Playing with Slow Stitching
Saturday afternoon, August 7th  1:00 - 3:30pm

I'm teaching this on Sat July 24th and Mon July 26th, (as of this writing, there's one space left in each of those classes,) but I've had some requests for a Saturday afternoon class, so that will be August 7th.
This type of hand-stitching is a popular art form right now, especially for 'visible mending,' inspired by the Japanese art of boro, which was originally decorative patching born out of necessity. We'll touch on traditional practical mending and darning skills if you're interested, then expand into more creative play, including working on hand-made paper, silk scraps, and old postcards.  I have lots of materials for you to play with.  See below for some examples.
You do not need to know how to sew to come to this Play-Shop!  As always, no experience is necessary, and materials are included.
Cost is $25, and scholarships are available if needed.
Because this takes place in our home, at this point I request that only fully vaccinated folks come to the group Play-Shop.  (If you want to do this and aren't vaccinated, let me know and we can schedule a private lesson at your place or outdoors in the shade!)
I'm also thinking about offering this one online; let me know if you would be interested in that!

above images: 'penny rug' style stitching on hand-made paper, hand-dyed linen on denim, hand-dyed vintage thread on linen/cotton blend, and a work in progress; flowers stitched onto an old postcard; don't you think those guys look like they need to lighten up?
