JEREMY OKAI DAVIS
 Artist-in-Residence

Crow's Shadow is excited to welcome Jeremy Okai Davis to the studio for a two-week residency from July 26 to August 5th.

Jeremy Okai Davis lives and works in Portland, OR. He is an accomplished painter, as well as graphic designer and illustrator. Jeremy received a BFA in painting from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, NC before relocating to Portland in 2007. He is currently represented by Elizabeth Leach Gallery, and his work has been shown nationally at the Studio Museum of Harlem (New York, NY), THIS Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA), Wa Na Wari (Seattle, WA) and The Rotating Art Program at Portland International Airport (Portland, OR). Davis's work resides in the permanent collections of the Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center at Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon.

Join us on Wednesday, August 4th, 4pm for a virtual event in our studio; we will introduce Jeremy, talk with him about his process and experiences at Crow's Shadow, and see a sneak peek of his prints in progress. There will be a short Q&A session, too.

Drumstick Workshop with Kelsey Burns

Kelsey Burns will be leading a drumstick workshop from 11am - 3pm on Saturday, August 7 at Crow's Shadow. There is a small registration fee of $10, due at sign-up.

Kelsey has been making drumsticks for over four years; he continues to make them for himself, and for others who may need them. During this workshop, Kelsey will teach the participants how to assemble the drumsticks, using buckskin and tape. As a finishing touch, participants will use yarn to decorate and personalize their drumstick.

Nika Blasser departs Crow's Shadow

We are sad to say goodbye to Crow's Shadow's longtime Marketing Director, Nika Blasser. After six years of hard work and amazing dedication, she is leaving to continue pursuing her own arts career along with a return to teaching.

On behalf of the Crow's Shadow Staff and Board of Directors, please join us in thanking Nika for all of her wonderful talents and creativity in service of the organization. We will miss her insight and ingenuity.
