Bunnings fundraiser: A big congratulations to all those involved in organising and running the Bunnings fundraiser on 11 July. In total $1460.01 was raised to contribute to developing the Holt Micro-Forest. A fantastic effort! A shout out and thank you to Silvia Ugrinic who led this event for our community with support from Tree Create.
Nature in the City Grant: Holt Micro-Forest has received a $15,000 grant from the ACT Government under the Nature in the City scheme! This grant provides funding to contribute towards aspects such as landscape design, water harvesting design, earthworks and fence hire, and will go a long way towards helping to establish the Micro-Forest and exploring our stretch goals such as a nature play area. Thank you to Tracy Benson and Edwina Robinson for their work on the grant application, and to Capital Region Community Services for sponsoring the application.
New Website
You may have noticed a new design to our Holt Micro-Forest website! A big thank you and shout out to community member John Holloway for setting up this platform for us. The new site is easier to navigate for users, and easier to maintain for administrators.
Help Wanted! Website Information Manager
With the new and improved platform now in place for our website, we are looking for assistance from a volunteer community member to help update and maintain the information on the website. Are you good at organising and presenting information? This volunteer role might be the right one for you! Please contact info@holtmicroforest.com if you'd like to find out more details and become involved.
Letterbox Flyer Delivery Around Boyle Place Playground
We are completing a second letterbox flyer drop early this week (thank you Gerard Dwyer) targeting the streets surrounding the Boyle Place Playground. The flyer identifies the Boyle Place Playground as the preferred site, gives an overview of our funding, and also encourages local residents to attend our upcoming community events to help shape the initiative. We know a lot of the Holt community are on social media, but the letterbox drop enables us to reach those who are not. We want to ensure everyone who wants to contribute can get involved! We will also soon have some signs around the park too. Watch this space!
