The City of Edmonton has created a grant program for festivals and events to encourage their return by offsetting additional costs as a result of COVID-19. Eligible events may include organized runs, walks and other sporting events, active recreation and active living events, sport festivals, public demonstrations and try-it events.

The Sport Relief Fund will continue to provide much needed financial support to sport organizations to help build back sport and play through 2021-22. Please contact Jumpstart to confirm your eligibility before applying for a grant. Most National Sport Organizations are qualified donees which may enable your eligibility.

Sport legacies: hosting mega, major and signature sport events can bring many positive benefits to the community. Our Recommendation #4: That a target of 1% of all revenue generated from mega, major and signature sport events hosted in Edmonton be invested in a financial legacy to advance sport, physical activity, and active recreation in Edmonton. Such legacies shall be utilized to operate and maintain any facilities created for the event and advance programming. Read more about this recommendation here.
