What we're reading:
A thoughtful, fascinating long read by writer Michael Pollan on our love of coffee entitled: 'The invisible addiction: is it time to give up caffeine?'. His description of the origins of coffee in the Arabian peninsula and thoughts on how it may have been partially responsible (along with the prohibition of alcohol) for the scientific and technological advances in the Islamic world in the 16-17th centuries, are very well presented.

What we're watching:
Ali Abdaal's YouTube videos are relentlessly engrossing and his latest on strategic laziness using the RAD system doesn't disappoint.

What we're listening to:
Iman Masmoudi, president of ethical clothing brand Tuniq, joins the team at Qarawiyyin Podcast for a wide-ranging chat about ethical fashion, production, and consumption in the best titled episode we've come across in ages: 'The Devil Wears Zara'.

What we're loving:
The University of Cornell's Ornithology Lab have put together an absolutely awesome app called Merlin to essentially answer the question "what's that bird?" Many of us have attempted to reconnect with nature over the various lockdowns and this really helps put some of the pieces of the elaborate divine jigsaw together by helping to recognise birds from their songs as well as their appearance!

Jeem Juxtapositions:
Thank you all for continuing to frequent our Jeem Essentials* reading list. The list is a curated selection of reads that have featured in this newsletter, been mentioned in one of our Instagram Stories or have simply tickled our fancy. One thing's for sure: they resonate with our desire to inspire peace, purpose and productivity.

Quote we're pondering over:
Contentment is the capital that will never diminish Ali ibn Abu Talib

All best wishes and duas,

Tauseef & Sarah
