Welcoming the new Archdeacon of Horsham

The Revd Angela Martin, Vicar of Forest Row, was installed as the new Archdeacon of Horsham by the Bishop at Evensong in Chichester Cathedral on Sunday 4 July.

Bishop Martin said he was delighted that Angela Martin accepted his invitation. She has been one of the acting archdeacons of Horsham since 1 March 2021. Read more about Angela's new role  here

New Honorary Canons welcomed

The Bishop welcomed three new Honorary Canons of the Cathedral at Evensong in the Cathedral on Sunday 1st July

Revd Rob Dillingham is to take the Stall of the Prebendary of Firle,

The Revd Canon Stephen Ferns (who is stepping down as Canon Treasurer) to take the Stall of the Prebendary of Selsey.

The Revd Derek Welsman to take the Stall of the Prebendary of Middleton.

Please pray for the three new honorary canons in their ministries.

Bishop Martin commissioned Lel Hurst as the Ambassador for The Children’s Society for East Sussex. They were joined in the Bishop's Chapel by members of The Children's Society, Mike Todd and Ruth Andoh-Baxter and the Ambassador for West Sussex, Fiona Mackey. Please pray for this important ministry across the diocese.
Football's coming home!

Many people's attention will be turned to the screen at 8pm on Sunday evening as we prepare for the final match with Italy in the Euros 2021. Please pray for the teams and for the fans and for all the people involved in the enormous task of getting the ground prepared and welcoming fans from across the globe.


 
Called by name

As school leaver services were disrupted again this year, we were delighted the cathedral agreed to host a beautiful installation of colourful butterflies to mark year 6 pupils' transition from primary to secondary school.

The amazing cascade of butterflies, each made by a Year 6 pupils, are an invitation to all who come to the Cathedral, including individual classes, to pray for all who are coming to the end of their time at primary school. Read what the Cathedral say about the project here
Praying for our schools

As the end of the school year approaches we would like to express our gratitude to all our schools- Headteachers, staff and Governors.  It has been a year of unprecedented challenge and the service, love and dedication they have brought to their communities has been remarkable  Please pray for them as the summer break approaches.

Fundraising update

Our easyfundraising introductory webinars were well attended in June and 35 churches have decided to start raising funds using this free fundraising site. Attendees were entered into a prize draw and four lucky winners received their first £25 donation courtesy of easyfundraising! Many congratulations to them. Mental Health ministries

Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries offers short courses featuring the voices of Sanctuary Ambassadors, mental health experts, theologians, pastors, and people with lived experiences of mental health challenges. All you need to do is to register here

In January 2022 the Living Faith course will begin again at 5 venues around the diocese and online for those who cannot attend a venue.

Living Faith is for lay Christians to find and develop their gifts and explore what discipleship and calling means for them. It is also part-one of the Authorised Lay Ministry training programme and candidates who wish to train as ALM’s need first to complete Living Faith.

Applications to Living Faith need to be made by 3rd December 2021 via Eventbrite at Living Faith - Diocese of Chichester (anglican.org)  where you can also find full details of the course.’
