WEBINAR SERIES INVITE:
DIVE IN SEMANTICS TECHNOLOGIES
WEBINAR #3

Doing a Governance Operational Model for Ontologies

Date and time: Tuesday 27 July 2021 at 4:00 PM CEST (UTC +2:00)

Dear esteemed Ontologies Community Members,

We invite you to the third webinar of our series: Dive in semantics technologies.

During this webinar, Alexander Garcia from BASF will present the Governance Operational Model for Ontologies (GOMO) his team is developing.

GOMO establishes an agile governance model for BASF ontologies. Its ultimate goal is to facilitate the development of interoperable ontologies that make it possible to build an enterprise knowledge graph. GOMO adheres to and builds upon related bodies of standards (e.g., w3c). The governance operational model operationalizes the structure of a network of empowered, fit-for-purpose teams having accountable roles (responsibility, authority), executes hands-on governance, mobilizes communities, and actively engages with the ecosystem of users and applications.

GOMO involves the following workstreams: Governing Principles and Structure - Methodologies and Best Practices - Standards - Outreach - Training.

Advanced registration is required in order to attend the webinar.

SPEAKER
Alexander Garcia Castro

Ontologist, Semantic, and Knowledge Graph Expert at BASF

Alexander Garcia is an expert in semantic and knowledge technologies with more than 10 years of experience in the biomedical and chemical domains. The OK (ontologies and knowledge) team, led by Alexander Garcia and part of Jurgen Mullers group, was born 2 years ago. Its primary goal is to facilitate the adoption of knowledge technologies and paradigms across the organization. The value proposition of data as an asset is as diverse as data itself; the OK team mimics this diversity by bringing together an interdisciplinary group of experts from domains such as chemistry, life sciences, and computer sciences. The team actively participates in the development of ontologies, linked data solutions, governance models, and semantic frameworks that are related to the business value of data as well as to the needs of end-users.
