Teachers’ Teammates Tops $100,000 in ‘Free Shopping’ for Delco Educators

Teachers’ Teammates has reached a remarkable milestone: Educators in Delaware County have been able to “shop” for more than $100,000 in free supplies since the nonprofit began filling orders in February. Reaching this $100,000 milestone so quickly is really a tribute to the generosity of the people and businesses of Delaware County and the acknowledgement that our teachers deserve our support. It also is a reflection of the incredible need and reminds us of how important it is to continue and grow this organization.

Currently, Teachers’ Teammates is focused on helping Delaware County schools with the greatest need, where at least 65 percent or more of the students receive free or reduced lunch.

Since Feb. 1, 135 teachers have registered and placed 199 orders in the Teachers’ Teammate online store – for “free” shopping of $102,896.99. Every order also received free gift bags averaging $35-$50 in value.

In addition to the online store supplies, Teachers’ Teammates has distributed 3,000 school-at-home bags in the William Penn School District, valued at $20,000; 82 back-to-school bags to Darby Township School teachers valued at $3,000 and more than $168,000 worth of hand sanitizer was distributed to 2,200 teachers.

Teachers’ Teammates is an all-volunteer organization built by former educators and parents who recognize teachers must too often dig into their own wallets to meet their classrooms’ needs. It welcomes new volunteers and donations, both of school supplies and financial support. Another GIANT milestone - Warehouse Space!!!

Anyone who has volunteered with Teachers' Teammates knows that our storage space is located in various places to accommodate the generous donations from so many people and organizations. We are happy to announce we can consolidate most if not all of the inventory in one location - a 3,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Folcroft. Through the generosity of the Henderson Group, we will be leasing the space at an affordable cost. We've come a long way since starting in a living room!
As soon as we have a move-in date we will be scheduling volunteers to pack, load, unpack and organize.
This development is in addition to the office space donated by the YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
