Young Farmers Share Visions on Future of Ag

As part of the Governor's Commission on the Future of Vermont Agriculture, Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts recently hosted a conversation with a panel of new and young Vermont farmers. The farmers shared personal stories about their experiences starting and running farm businesses in Vermont, including specifics about challenges and opportunities they've experienced in the sector and their visions for the future of agriculture here in the state.

The conversation concluded with a question and answer session between the panelists and the members of the Future of Agriculture Commission, the VT Climate Council’s Agriculture and Ecosystems Subcommittee and the Payment for Ecosystem Services Working Group. The panel discussion provides an invaluable look at some of the challenges and opportunities facing new farmers in Vermont and will help guide the Commission's work in determining the best strategies for supporting a viable and robust future for agriculture here in VT.
