STOP THE PRESS!
We owe thanks to readers of our Two Minute Tea Break regular newsletter (Dr Melissa Hutchinson from Wildlands, Di Lucas of Lucas Associates in Christchurch, and Maureen Young ) for pointing out that we had missed a taxonomic revision of Kanuka (New Zealand Kunzea) published in 2014 by de Lange.
Thanks for the correction.
The revision split Kunzea into several species; K.ericoides being distributed only in the Northern part of the South Island.
In fact three species occur from Auckland, north: Kunzea amathicola, K.linearis and K.robusta. It is Kunzea robusta which takana stocks.
