In this edition of the newsletter, we bring you the latest developments happening at the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai for the month of July.

The Australian Ambassador to China, H.E. Graham Fletcher travelled to Shanghai and Suzhou on 14-16 July. During his visit, the Ambassador met with a diverse range of stakeholders including government, businesses, universities and students.

One of the highlights of the trip was an Education Reception attended by over 80 students and alumni hosted by the University of Sydney’s China Centre in Suzhou. The reception offered an opportunity for students to share their experiences in studying through Australian education institutions.

The Consul General to Shanghai Dominic Trindade went to Ningbo to meet with both government and businesses. During his visit, he was given a tour of the Zhoushan Port – one the busiest port in the world.

He also stopped by the Ningbo Imported Commodities Exhibition & Trade Centre where he saw many local Australian products on display at the Australian country pavilion. 

It has been a tough time for students who, due to the pandemic, have been unable to return to Australia to finish their studies. In light of this, AustCham Shanghai will host a Graduation Event in collaboration with the Australian Consulate General Shanghai to celebrate the hard work of all graduates of 2020 and 2021.

过去的一年对留学生而言很艰难，疫情使得许多留学生无法返回澳洲完成学业。鉴于如此，上海澳商会和澳大利亚驻上海总领事馆将一起合作举办毕业典礼，来庆祝2020年和2021年留学生们的努力和付出。
