On July 2, Simona Caselli, president of AREFLH, participated in the video-conference “Fruits and vegetables in the context of the Mediterranean initiative” organized by Cia-Agricoltori and the University of Catania.
On 30 June Pauline Panegos, Secretary General of AREFLH and Luca Contrino, EU policy officer visited the APO IDFeL Val de Loire and also a packaging and dispatch station of Fleuron d'Anjou (member of IDFeL). Fleuron d'Anjou is a cooperative with 80 members specialised in vegetables (1000 hectares cultivated, including old vegetables, bunch vegetables and bulbs) and horticulture (400 species and 2000 varieties), of which it is the national leader. Fleuron d'Anjou's activities are spread over 3 sites located near Angers.
On 25th June the Council of the EU, the Parliament and the European Commission validated the provisional agreement on the key elements of the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, marking a further step towards the integration of the proposal into EU law.
Following a discussion on some of the key issues, including environmental measures and the social dimension of the CAP, EU agriculture ministers validated the provisional agreement on the three regulations that make up the CAP reform package.
The APO Gruppo VIVA has recently shown strong growth in the group thanks to the many activities carried out. Indeed, more than 28 million euros of aid were paid in the 2020 financial year to the 12 associated Producer Organisations through:
the implementation of the CMO Operational Programme
the support provided by the mutual fund in connection with the damage caused by the Asian bug

various regional rural development programmes
the National Operational Programmes on research and innovation.
The European Commission has adopted the main work programme of Horizon Europe for the period 2021-2022, which outlines the objectives and specific topic areas that will receive a total of €14.7 billion in funding. AREFLH is a partner of theproject LOWINFOOD, defined as a "Multi-actor design of low-waste food value chains through the demonstration of innovative solutions to reduce food loss and waste". The consortium has now set the specific workflow to be followed during the whole duration of the project.
During the AREFLH general assembly, Manuel Moñino, coordinator of the AIAM5 Global Alliance, presented the actions carried out by the Alliance and also highlighted the concrete and effective actions that fruit and vegetable sector organisations can implement to increase awareness of F&V consumption.

5-7 October: Fruit attraction with a face-to-face version in Madrid and one online. The organisers assure that the event will be able to welcome visitors in a physically thanks to the covid 19 protocol that will be implemented.
20-28 November : the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) encourages to carry out awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management. Registrations for EWWR 2021 will open in September 2021. ewwr.eu/
