JOIN US FOR OUR NEXT EJN EVENTS
Join us for our next free online panel event, "How has journalism responded to structural racism in UK newsrooms through its coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic?", on Monday 4 October at 18:30 BST.

The panel will discuss how coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK news reflects some of society’s key challenges in addressing racial inequality and cultural essentialism. It will also consider the roles and responsibilities journalists have in challenging stereotypes, using appropriate language, as well as giving context and resources that help diverse audiences understand the issue.
The event will be moderated by award-winning TV Presenter and journalist and EJN Trustee, Ayshah Tull. Our panellists are the BBC's Sima Kotecha; CEO and Founder of Black Ballad, Tobi Oredein; and Rizwana Hamid from the Centre for Media MonitoringMain photo by Maria Oswalt on Unsplash

MIGRATION REPORTING GUIDELINES FOR PAKISTANI MEDIA

Following a series of online consultations in November and December 2020, the EJN has developed  a set of guidelines for reporting on migration for the Pakistani media. This project was enhanced with a month-long online training course in June 2021, for 21 journalists from across Pakistani media and which was followed by mentoring and a grants scheme facilitated by the ICMPD. Journalists from the following media took part: Pakistan TV, Geo TV, Dawn, Current, Samaa, Naya Daur and Tribal News Network.

These guidelines are now available as infographics in both English and Urdu. They have been produced in partnership with the ICMPD and the Migrant Resource Centre, with funding from the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office.
