Hello, what's up, and welcome to the Lite + Brite newsletter.
If you've been around this newsletter for a while, then you know that we throw a weekly dance party called No Lights No Lycra. (If you haven't been around this newsletter for a while, then hello! Thanks for stopping in!) We are big believers in NLNL. It offers all of the good parts of going out dancing (freedom, community, exercise, catharsis, hot jams) with none of the hard parts (uncomfortable shoes, lines, being exhausted the next day, strangers thinking they have permission to talk to you, judgment).
Last March, we moved NLNL to a weekly Twitch stream, and that's where it's been ever since... until now. We're bringing back in-person NLNL at the West China Tea House for the coming four Mondays. Whether we remain there in the long term will depend on how well this trial period goes, and that, of course, depends on you all, the doers of Austin. Our friend Lou just told us that she's going to "seriously consider" coming one of these next four weeks. Be like Lou! Seriously consider NLNL!

Right now we've got most of our attention focused on No Lights No Lycra ATX's upcoming return to in person dancing. We'll be in the beautiful, spacious Great Hall at the West China Tea House (in the location of the former Guan Yin Tea House). RSVP on Facebook here, and/or buy advance tix here. And if you're a NLNLATX fan who's not local (read: Leila's mom), you can still stream our sets live on Twitch.
Our east coast travels just finished up, so we've had to take a break this week from Twitch and No Humans Allowed. We'll throw in a DJ mix from our archives below if you're looking for something to listen to as you peruse the newsletter.

Here's a live DJ mix we recorded at Guan Yin Tea House back in 2019. Brian Blackout selected a wide ranging mix of indie, funk, arena rock, Japanese city pop, eurodance, new wave, post-punk, synthpop, electropop and synthwave. Expect to hear something similar this on Monday evening, when we return to the tea house's events room and dim the lights. Listen to the mix on Mixcloud here.

What is No Lights No Lycra?
Austin's weekly judgment-free, substance-free, high-impact dance thing in the dark. We stream every Monday at 8pm CT. It's a DJ night that's not at the club, a workout that's not at the gym, a personal meditation that's anything but silent. Read more about us in the Austin Chronicle.
How do we choose which events to feature?
Honestly, it's pretty random. We might include anything in Austin that we, personally, would conceivably want to go to, generally excluding normal concerts, comedy shows, and movie showtimes because there are many other good resources for finding those. (We especially recommend Showlist for live music, dance.atx for DJs, and 101+ Weird Austin Things to Do for exactly what it sounds like). This list is by no means exhaustive; it's just stuff that caught our eye this week. If you have an event that you want us to consider including, send it over.
Who are we?
We make this newsletter. We put on No Lights No Lycra each week. We do some other stuff here and there. We love going out to creative events in Austin, and we want you to join us. Visit us at liteandbriteatx.com.
