Dear Friend,

I hope you’re having a great start to July!

Eclipse season is behind us and Mercury Retrograde is over! The planets seem to be aligning for a happy month. This month I want to share a funny 4th of July story about how we can choose to take a negative and turn it into a positive.

Fourteen years ago, my best friend and I were at our neighborhood pool with the kids on the morning of the 4th of July. We didn’t have any major plans for the holiday. In fact, we were so busy with work and children, we’d forgotten it was a holiday weekend. Then our neighbor, who’s a very good friend of ours, walked into the pool area and sheepishly waved at us as she and her husband began setting up tables. We rose from our pool chairs and offered to help as her children lugged in coolers of food and her husband rolled in his grill. “No thanks,” our friend said, “we’re good.”
My friend turned to me and said, “Is she setting up for a party?”
“That we’re not invited to?” I filled in.
We sat back down on our pool chairs and watched as our friend hung red, white, and blue banners. We stared as she put all the food in the clubhouse refrigerator. And we silently fumed.
“Why wouldn’t she invite us?” I whispered.
“I have no idea. But this is insane. We were just at her house.”
            “I know!”
Then we burst out laughing. It was so absurd. Eventually, our friend sat down next to us and explained that she was having a party for her church friends. “But of course, ya’ll can come.”
            Gee thanks.
Then another neighbor and friend walked into the pool – a neighbor who did not attend this woman’s church- and said to the party hostess, “See you at 6! Thanks for the invite!”
My friend and I burst into laughter again and couldn’t stop laughing. I felt like we had time traveled back to middle school.

Fireworks“You’re coming to my house for a barbecue,” my friend said as she packed up her bag and dried off the kids. “I am going to throw the best spur-of-the-moment barbecue you’ve ever attended.”
“I’ll bring dessert,” I called after her.
“See you at 6!” She called over her shoulder.
“Thanks for the invite!” I yelled back laughing. Yes, indeed, we were back in middle school.
The barbecue was lovely. We had sparklers and small fireworks for the kids. The food was great, but the laughter and music from the clubhouse party wafted over my friend’s yard. Then we saw huge displays of fireworks coming from the neighborhood behind us.
“Let’s go check it out!” our kids begged.

So, we gathered everyone together and followed the dazzling display of lights in the sky which led us to our other friends. Our entire playgroup was gathered in the street setting off fireworks. My friend and I paused in the middle of the road and watched as all the moms from our playgroup clustered around in groups chatting and taking pictures with their families. Then we looked at each other and burst into laughter again.
“How did this happen?” she said between fits of laughter.
I wiped tears from my eyes and said, “I don’t know. But we’re definitely not in the cool crowd.”

We vowed then and there to celebrate the 4th of July together for the rest of our lives. We still break out into fits of laughter about this holiday memory. But we have been true to our word. Throughout cancer, sick parents, divorces, kids leaving for college – none of it stopped us from celebrating the 4th together. Each year we pack huge coolers of food and head down to the beach to watch the resort’s display of fireworks. This year, I watched our kids laughing and pointing at the fireworks and I paused to take it all in. We’ve been friends for 18 years. Our children have grown up together. We’ve been through so much. And here we are. Standing together. Still laughing.

And isn’t that the point of life? Not to achieve success or a mythological happy-ever-after but to find someone who can stand next to you and laugh at the absurdity and beauty of life. To hold your hand through the suffering and pain of life. To celebrate the joyful moments and help you find humor and hope through it all.

I don’t think the main life goal we should focus on is happiness. If we were here to be happy, we wouldn’t be on Earth. We’d be in heaven. Earth is our school. It’s where we come to learn and grow our soul. That’s why I think our main life goal should be connection. It’s when we’re connected to others that we feel supported, championed, and loved.

This is why I love hosting the podcasts. It’s a way for me to feel connected to like-minded people and hopefully to help you feel connected to others as well because, let’s face it, when you’re into the stuff we’re into – crystals, psychic development, ghosts, and spirit guides – we often feel as though we’re not in the “cool crowd.” Yet together – through the gift of connection – we realize that it’s all an illusion. When you strip it down to bare bones, all that remains is connection and the memories those links create.

So thank you for being a part of our podcast family. Wishing you all a summer of meaningful connections and lots of laughter!
Crystal of the Month: Prehnite

Known as the Stone of Prophecy for its ability to enhance precognition and intuitive insights, Prehnite is a great stone for connection because it links your heart with your mind. It increases your ability to tune in and make wise decisions. PrehniteIt’s also referred to as the Healer’s Healer because working with Prehnite reminds givers to practice more self-care. It also helps us connect with Archangel Raphael – the angel of healing.

Its yellow-green coloring works to activate, cleanse, and strengthen both the Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras. It’s an excellent stone for people learning to love themselves more fully. It should be called the Stone of Boundaries because Prehnite helps you learn how to say no more effectively. It’s especially helpful for people who have a hard time standing up for themselves and making sure they are heard. Prehnite also helps writers and artists dealing with blocks due to low self-confidence or lack of ideas as it gently stimulates the wearer to remember their passion and their gifts.Prehnite bracelet

Wear or carry Prehnite to help you reach deeper levels and connect more fully with your guides. Prehnite helps bring a sense of peace and calm to one’s energy. It’s a great stone for dream recall. Keep one under the mattress, pillow, or by your bedside to help you recall your dreams. Intuitives have used Prehnite to help connect them to the other side and to grow in their confidence.

Samantha’s Be Your Own Psychic class was invaluable to me. The resources, partner exercises, independent exercises, and Facebook group provided me with the tools and community I needed to push the boundaries of my intuitive development. I highly recommend this class!  -- Jade

What I LOVE about this class is you get to apply what you are learning as it goes along. Experience is the best teacher and Samantha has integrated that into this class. You learn skills in the group call and then have homework to do individually and/or with another in the class. Working with others that are like-minded is in and of itself healing, supportive, and empowering. I've been studying/teaching Intuitive Development for years and do not know of another class like this! -- Kenya

Samantha's class provides a safe and completely supportive environment to learn in. Book of the Month

Area 51This month, I’m listening to Area 51 by Annie Jacobson. I really enjoyed her Operation Paper Clip book, so I decided to check out her latest and I’m loving it so far. In the last week of June, we had a “soft disclosure” from the government after a small 9-page report was submitted to Congress at the end of June. It didn’t use words like “extraterrestrial,” but it did go so far as to say there is no evidence this phenomenon is part of secret military technology from other countries. It tasked all branches of the military – including the Air Force – with getting on board in terms of reporting and recording future sightings. So it’s a good start. In Area 51, you get the declassified background on this once secret base that has been the foundation of so many conspiracy theories and speculation. You can listen to Area 51 for free by going to audible.com/psychicteachers or text the word “psychicteachers” to 500-500.
