SVMA E-News July 13, 2021

As a public health precaution, the SVMA Office will remain closed to members and the public until further notice. However, office staff will continue to work from home and can be reached by phone or email during the usual office hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Mon to Fri).

IMPORTANT REMINDER : RABIES VACCINES

The Health of Animals Regulations Part XI 134.2(1) states that “…. No person shall sell or offer for sale a rabies vaccine to anyone other than a veterinarian of the Department of Agriculture of Canada or a veterinarian who holds a valid licence to practice veterinary medicine issued by the veterinary licensing body of the province.”

Please keep the above in mind as you administer, or otherwise dispense vaccines to your clientele.

CVMA VIRTUAL CONVENTION

Given the pandemic, the resulting uncertainties, and keeping health and safety top-of-mind, the CVMA Council decided to pivot and host the 2021 CVMA Convention in a virtual format only, without any in-person events.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

DVMs and half of the RVTs started a new CE reporting period January 1, 2021 which will end December 31, 2022. Half of the RVTs will have their CE reporting period end December 31, 2021.

SVMA ADVERTISEMENT REQUEST FORM

SVMA members can post ads of up to 200 words for positions in Saskatchewan FREE for three months.

Payment of $50 plus GST (per multiple of 200 words/ per listing/ per month) is required for:

Ads over 200 words
Ads placed for practices located outside of Saskatchewan
Ads placed by non-SVMA members

SAVT PRESENTS

MENTAL HEALTH PEER SUPPORT BUDDY PROGRAM

This volunteer-based program is not intended to replace professional mental health services, nor is it staffed or composed of certified medical professionals. At its core, it is intended to be an informal, accessible resource, a confidential, empathetic, and non-structured relationship between individuals with shared experiences. Ground rules regarding confidentiality, providing feedback, and voluntary participation will guide every interaction, and the relationship may be terminated by either buddy, at any time. Every participant in the program will receive a list of available professional mental health support service providers.
