#137: Can BrowserStack Be The World's Software Tester?

Dear AJVC Reader,

If you’re looking for a sign, this is it.

It’s time for you to pack your bags, make that trip to Iceland and never return, because they’re on the way to implement a 4-day workweek.

Japan is second in line, so if cherry blossoms are your thing… unless you prefer a tomato farm and the $50/month passive income. Few understand this.

Few people also understand what is happening in Chinese tech.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited’s stock price saw a 6.2% jump on 7th July, possibly as a result of China’s clampdown on native ride-hailing giant Didi, just a week after its US IPO. Does Uber also have some stake in Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited?

Asking for a friend.

Reports tell us that Starlink might become operational this August, which will make low latency broadband available in even the most remote areas on the planet. Democratizing access to the internet, so that Doge memes and market manipulating voices can reach an even larger audience.

For many audiences, it’s the "Weekend of the Champions"! Argentina vs. Brazil in the Copa América final, England vs. Italy in the Euro final. Thank you, ESPN.

As England football team face's a test of a generation, our story this fortnight is all about testing.

The Story
Can BrowserStack Be The World's Software Tester?

Testing is like stage practice, but with software deployment. It is sort of the last check before the "show" starts.

But what if the show you're planning has to run on multiple ramps at the same time. Would you do the dry-run on all the ramps individually before you're sure of the performance?

Before BrowserStack, the answer to that was yes.

Ritesh had a taste of entrepreneurship even before he was out of college. It sounds mainstream now, but we're talking about 2005 when 'subprime crisis' was an uncoined term and AI/ML's existence was limited to just 76 research papers worldwide.

His first few ideas did not generate much love in the market. But he was always on the lookout, and in 2011 he realised that being a developer, he could solve a problem that plagues every single developer across the globe.

That was the problem of testing.

Back then, Internet Explorer was the main browser being used. But other browsers were catching up, and mobile was fast catching on. As the device complexity increases, testing problems would only exacerbate.

Fast forward to 2021, BrowserStack is India's largest SaaS unicorn. What happened in between?
