Meditation of the Day:

Sometimes
the best way to find something
is to not go looking for it.
Let it find you,
as you are,
where you are,
who you are,
honest.

Be where you’re from.
May you always carry with you
some of the soil that grew you
and remember the salt of the earth
isn’t meant to taste like sugar.
May you speak kindness
in your native accent,
seasoned with the flavors of home.

Be where you are.
Let the noises in the distance
remain in the distance.
The ground you walk on is real.
May you treat it that way
and all who walk on it with you.

May you learn the hidden secret
of summer flowers and summer crops.
May you be still.
       May you be rooted.
              May you be present.
That which you long for,
longs to find you
fully alive
where you live.

From Fr. Chris
He Had Compassion for Them
This is one of the most powerful passages in scripture because we see the Gospel writer reveal his "feelings" of Jesus toward the people.  He has compassion on them.

Jesus has compassion on the people because they are LOST! They are wandering around, seeking meaning from this or that "thing." They are shepherdless.  All the contemporary religious leaders had failed their people.  They proclaimed, "Isn't it awful there is no spiritual spark that enriches and empowers a person to be a shepherd to others."

But Jesus looks at his disciples (and us!) and says "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." Jesus determined to use people to help people!  But then he also equipped them for the work he was calling them to do.  He gave them the power and the authority to combat the very things that were the source of confusion and lostness of the human race. He knew there would be a difficult ratio between the laborers and the work ahead of them so he gave these laborers (and us) the power to accomplish the task.  And by doing that, he removed every excuse we could ever make that the job is too big!,  "We don't have enough money" (FALSE), "We aren't smart enough" (FALSE), "We are afraid" (NOT JUST FALSE BUT FAITHLESS)

Today, do you feel shepherdless or lost?  Reach out to a support and a guide:  reach out to a shepherd.

A Message from the Sr Warden
Dear Parishioners,

As I said this past Sunday, the only constant is change.

Change means growth and growth is better than the opposite option.

Thank you to Martha and Jay Callan for their many years of service to Holy Family. With Jay retiring from the position of Junior Warden, I am pleased to welcome Stan Phipps to the rank of Junior Warden. Appreciate Stan, as he is always understanding and will always be a friend.

I would personally like to thank Father Chris and his wife Jeanne for their service to our parish.  They led us through a dark time to the bright sun that we see today.

As Father Chris approaches his second retirement, I wanted to assure the Parish that all is well and the Vestry is making appropriate plans for the future.

A Succession/Transition Plan has been submitted and accepted by the Diocese. Discussions with Canon Augusta and Bishop Jose are on going.

You can all rest assured that the Holy Family Vestry will always look out for Holy Family and its Parishioners.

May God bless Father Chris, Jeanne, Stan  and all all the Parishioners of Holy Family.

Yours in Christ ✝️
Gary
Your Senior Warden

Family News
Our Women's Group has restarted!  Please join us on the second Saturday of each month for an informal gathering of fellowship! Coffee and tea will be provided and you are welcome to bring a snack to share. Our next meeting will be at the church Saturday August 14 at 10 am.
Hey hey y’all!
We have had a lot of fun in children’s church over the last few weeks! They kids have been super into their Sunday school lessons, saying prayers with each other, and playing together. It truly fills my cup to spend my Sunday mornings with them!

We started talking about how Episcopal church services are run, last time we were all together, we learned about the Prayers of the People. We all sat down together, read the original one together, and then tackled writing our own. It was so fun to see their brains and hearts working together to decide how and why they wanted to pray for! Their version is posted on the welcome table outside of the sanctuary, please take some time to read it!

This week we are going to finish our Prayers of the People and open up the Book of Common Prayer and see what other versions we can find!

As always, I so appreciate all the love and support our children’s program gets here at Holy Family!

I hope you all have a blessed week, and I will see you on Sunday!
