Message from the Chair

Kristy Christie

Dear <<First Name>>

In my first week as Chair I was honoured to host the regular IABC APAC Mid-week Comms Call. It was a real buzz to be part of a conversation that clearly demonstrates the power of ‘I’ in IABC.

Members from across the region spoke with firsthand experience on topics that could have been at a global conference; internal communication at Amazon around Jeff Bezos resigning, the inside word from vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca, and how various countries are approaching return to the workplace, including the wonderful suggestion of ‘re-boarding’ (onboarding for returning to the office).

That one hour of inspiration cemented to me that the power of IABC comes from you as the members.  Sharing your knowledge, experiences, successes, and lessons that you have seen as communication professionals is so important to making us all better at what we do. I feel privileged to be exposed to so much and encourage you to stay involved - to help others learn and to improve yourself.

I’m still unpacking a truly amazing IABC World Conference – topics covered everything from astronauts and NASA to disinformation, resilience for communicators and using games to make virtual calls more engaging. An advantage of having a digital conference was that I didn’t have to pick and choose what sessions to attend; they’re all recorded and available to be viewed at my leisure – or your leisure if you take up the offer of the World Conference All-Access Pass.

We’ve held our first IABC APAC Board meeting for the term, so a big thank you to 2021 Board. I can’t let this chance pass without recognising our Immediate Past Chair, Kristy Christie. Kristy has done so much to grow the region and I want to extend a big thank you to her on behalf of all members.

Lastly well done from me to the IABC APAC members recognised with IABC Chair Awards and Chapter Management Awards!

Warm Regards,

James

IABC APAC Chapters win big at 2021 Chapter Management Awards

Congratulations to IABC New South Wales and IABC Victoria for their recognition in the IABC 2021 Chapter Management Awards!

IABC Victoria were presented with the Chapter Events Award for Excellence for their chapter events as well as an Award of Merit for their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work.
