Standing Strong In Perilous Times
In his article, published in this month's edition of Decision Magazine, Franklin Graham wrote, what we consider to be, some very sobering and edifying statements.
We live in a world that is becoming increasingly hostile to both Biblical truth and those of us who represent our Savior, Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, some in the face of such opposition have folded themselves into our culture, making themselves salt that has utterly lost its savor and sadly useless to the kingdom of God.
Yet, while we see those who have compromised the unchanging truth of Scripture, we have also seen many who have stood firm no matter the worldly cost.
Many are familiar with the stories of bakers and florists who have endured long, unrelenting legal battles because their moral (Biblical) standards run contrary to our Christ-rejecting world.
What are we to do? Franklin Graham provides us with the answer––stand strong for Christ!
"In this day when the immoral pressures of our decadent culture are growing stronger and more belligerent by the moment, it's encouraging to see those who are standing strong in Christ," he wrote.
"There's no way around it—we have slipped ever further into a moral abyss in this nation, but now is not the time to give up. Absolutely not!" Graham continued. "I believe in taking action when the forces of evil are knocking on the door and seeking to destroy our families and our nation. For the sake of His great Name, I will stand strong, by His grace, for my children and grandchildren. There's too much at stake."
"I thank God for those who are resisting the evil of our day," he stated. "I know there are millions of God-fearing believers who are also not afraid to speak the truth even when lies have gained so much ground."
"In the words of the Apostle Paul: 'Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong' (1 Corinthians 16:13)," Graham concludes.
Though our legal systems, employers, governments, and world may not be fighting for Christians and our rights, we know that our Heavenly Father is, and if He is for us... who can stand against?
