 Welcome Alison Bickel
Upper School Photography Teacher
Alison Bickel is excited to join the Academy staff this year as a teacher of photography! She owns and operates a local small business providing photography and videography services to the community, and especially loves capturing the little moments of real life. Alison was an Athletic Trainer and a Physical Education teacher before having children, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Elmhurst College and a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Illinois State University. Having children ignited her desire to learn more about photography and she dove into a new course of study which eventually resulted in the business she holds today. Alison and her husband Brian have 2 children, Riggs and Deaglan, who are Academy students in the 8th and 4th grades. They are members of Rivertree Church and excited to be a part of the Academy this year.

 Welcome Sarah Dove
Upper School Art Teacher
Sarah Dove is the Upper School Art teacher at the Academy. She grew up in Dallas, TX, and has been blessed to call Huntsville home for the past decade. She graduated from Athens State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. She began teaching Middle School art with Huntsville City Schools immediately after graduation. Sarah has 4 wonderful children: Eliana, Garison, Reverdy, & Marigold, entering 9th, 7th, 3rd, and Kindergarten this school year. Her kids keep her quite busy at the soccer fields or exploring new trails and waterfalls. Sarah's main partner in adventures is her husband, Chris, who collaborates on art installations with her and plans cross-country camping trips for them. They attend the Rock Family Worship Center in Huntsville. Sarah's favorite Bible verse for this season is Luke 1:45.

 Welcome Leish Ford
Custodial Supervisor
Leish “Peaches” Ford is the Custodial Supervisor at the Academy. She grew up in Huntsville and graduated from Lee High School. She has worked at Stonehouse Cleaners, Alabama A&M and Toyota. Leish is married to James and has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys cooking and being outside. She attends St. Mark’s Church and her favorite Bible verse is John 3:16.

 Welcome Elizabeth Frederickson
After School Care Coordinator
Elizabeth Frederickson is the new After School Care Coordinator at the Academy. Elizabeth graduated from Whitesburg Baptist Christian School (homeschool) in May. She has served as a childcare provider and has five siblings, all adopted from China. Elizabeth enjoys reading, playing music, spending time with kids and traveling. She attends Whitesburg Baptist Church and her favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:8.

 Welcome Claire Hoffman
Middle School History
Claire Hoffman will be teaching 7th and 8th grade History this year. She has been teaching History for the past 10 years. Mrs. Hoffman is from Auburn, AL and just moved to Huntsville with her husband of 11 years, Noah. They have two children, a dog named Annabelle and a cat named Iceland. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and History and a Master’s degree in Education/History and Library Media. Mrs. Hoffman and her family attend Whitesburg Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loves learning and reading about anything history. She also enjoys being outside with her family, working out and playing Scrabble. Her favorite bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.

 Welcome Dee Dee Johnston
Graphic Designer
Dee Dee Johnston is a graphic designer at the Academy. She grew up in Huntsville and attended the University of Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has been a freelance graphic designer for over 20 years. She and her husband, Mike, have two sons Matthew and Caleb, who attend the Academy. She and her family enjoy spending time watching movies, college football, Braves baseball, and the Rocket City Trash Pandas. She enjoys all things Alabama and is a tech junkie. She and her family are active members at Rivertree Church where she and her son, Matthew, enjoy running tech together on Sundays. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 11:36.

 Welcome Robin Knight
Administrative Assistant
Robin Knight is an Administrative Assistant at the Academy. She grew up in Huntsville and attended the University of Montevallo where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology. She studied /worked in physical therapy and the fitness field for 4 years at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She and her husband, Albion, have three children: William, Abby and Gus. She enjoys running, weightlifting and hiking. She attends Providence Baptist Church. Her favorite Bible verse is Titus 2:12.

 Welcome Julia Lee
Janitorial Supervisor
Julia Lee is the Janitorial Supervisor at the Academy. She grew up in Frederick, Maryland and has over 10 years of work experience including last year at the Academy. Julia has one son named Jason, three precious grandchildren and a dog named Rocket. She attends Moses Chapel Primitive Baptist Church where she serves as the President of the Usher Board. She enjoys bowling and crafts. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.

 Welcome Beth Moore
Admissions Assistant
Beth Moore is a native of Huntsville and graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communication. After staying at home with her youngest son for a few years, she taught preschool and has been a regular substitute teacher at the Academy the past two years. She and her husband are active members at Cove Church and have three children. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, working out and spending quality time with her family. Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9.

 Welcome Jimmy Don Nave
Head Football Coach & Middle School PE
Coach Nave has been hired as the Head Football Coach for the Warriors and he will also be teaching Middle School PE. Coach Nave has coached 27 years, 17 as a head coach. He coached teams from 2A (where he led Tanner to the state playoffs numerous times including a semifinal run) to the highest level at Bob Jones. Coach Nave understands how to build a program as well as how to get our students notoriety and college opportunities. He is also looking forward to teaching PE and interacting with the students every day.

 Welcome Adam O'Boyle
Private Music Instructor
Adam O’Boyle has been playing piano for 25 years and has taught privately for 15 years. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelors in Piano and recently graduated from the University of Louisville with his Masters in Piano in 2020. Adam won first place in both the 2010 Huntsville Young Artist Competition and the 2019 Kentucky Music Teacher Association’s Young Artist Competition. In 2010, Adam performed the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto, Op. 25 with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. Adam is very passionate about music education and piano lessons. He enjoys seeing his students master the instrument and learn how to make and enjoy music for the rest of their lives. Adam has taught piano lessons all over the world including Jamaica, Ukraine, Africa, and Israel.

 Welcome Emily Polak
Upper School English
Emily Polak will be teaching Upper School English at the Academy. She grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa and attended Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She taught Pre-AP English 9, Honors English 12, Freshman Composition, and Yearbook at Bob Jones High School for nearly six years. She and her husband, Lane, have one son, August, and two spoiled cats. She and her family love mountain biking and traveling (especially to Disney World!). She enjoys writing young adult fiction, baking, and photography in her spare time. She attends Rivertree Church with her family. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:39.

 Welcome Devin Pond
Middle School Science
Devin Pond will be teaching Middle School Science at the Academy. She grew up in Boaz, AL. Mrs. Pond received her B.S. from Auburn University and a M.S. from University of Alabama in Birmingham. She is married to John Pond, Senior Pastor at Jackson Way Baptist and they have two beautiful children, John Houston (7) and Hattie (16 months). She enjoys spending time with her family, anything outdoors, and all college sports (War Eagle!). Her favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17.

 Welcome Steve Walker
Maintenance and Custodial Manager
Steve grew up in Huntsville and retired in June from Lynn Fanning Elementary School where he served as the maintenance supervisor. Steve worked for the Madison County School System for 18 years. Prior to that he was a technical service advisor for Whittichen where he worked on air conditioning systems. He is certified in air conditioning systems, plumbing and electrical. Steve has two sons and two daughters and 12 grandchildren. His favorite chapter of the Bible is Genesis 48. Steve likes to play the guitar and write children’s stories and songs.

 Welcome Katie Bryant Williams
Private Music Instructor
Katie Williams is a private music lesson instructor. She grew up in Waynesboro, Tennessee. She attended the University of North Alabama where she received her Bachelor and Master of Education/Instrumental Music degrees. She was the assistant band director at Collinwood High School and a private music lesson instructor at Valley Conservatory. She and her husband have two sons. She enjoys hiking, playing board games, playing/composing music, and crocheting. She attends Grove Baptist Church. Her favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10.
