The recent brutal heat wave and torrential rains have done nothing to dampen the spirits of SPUR volunteers.  Thank you to everyone who has come out despite the extreme weather conditions to give their time.  We are so grateful for your unflagging commitment to feeding neighbors experiencing food insecurity!

Carrots and peppers are ready to harvest, along with leafy greens, herbs, and more.  Volunteer slots are available every day to water, weed, and help our garden grow!  Monday through Friday, we welcome volunteers to come to the garden to help us harvest produce and deliver it to area food pantries and other organizations fighting food insecurity.

If you're new to the SPUR Community Roots Garden and would like a tour with one of our Garden Chairs, simply respond to this email and we will be happy to arrange a time that works for you.

A note about parking-
The Church of St. Andrew will be making repairs to their driveway and parking lot and have asked us to park on one of the adjacent streets while work continues through the summer.  
One last thing.

Our annual sustaining fundraiser, the SPUR Summer Fling, is coming up this weekend on Saturday, July 17.  The monies raised at this event support not only the Garden, but all of the programming SPUR uses to build a strong and resilient Community of Doers.  It is because of your generous support of this event that we are able to respond quickly to events like the recent vandalism. 

Join us for an evening of small bites, signature cocktails, music, and more at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion in Marblehead.  Sponsor and giving-level tickets are on sale now.  A limited number of other tickets will be available for purchase on Monday, June 21.
