TEYR
AUGUST 5TH
Originally formed in London at the beginning of 2013, TEYR are fiddler and guitarist James Patrick Gavin, accordionist Tommie Black-Roff and uilleann piper and whistle player Dominic Henderson.

The band saw critical acclaim for their 2016 debut album Far From The Tree, and in recent years the members have taken on their own individual journeys; producing albums of their own and relocating to the Nordic region. In autumn 2018 they reunited in a Finnish log cabin to begin work on a new album, and over the course of the next two years paid numerous visits to their old writing haunt in West Cornwall to complete the musical weaving.

Now the trio are thrilled to return to the fray once more as TEYR and share their new vision, Estren.

RUNE
WORLD PREMIER PERFORMANCE
AUGUST 17TH
a male performer from RUNE opera is making a statuesque shape with their body as if they are bending over and thinking, with their hand on their head and opposite arm against their side. The performer is without a shirt and has some white paint streaked over their chest.
Performers of RUNE opera are posing in fashion garments created specifically for the show. There are 3 performers standing outside wearing cream or off-white mesh garments, one is wearing a mesh shirt that looks as though it was weaved by cobwebs another performer wears a mesh sleeveless top, another wears a high neck, thicker mesh top with 3/4 sleeves and there is a mesh scarf draped over their faces on top of all 3 performers. They are all wearing blue jeans. The garments are designed by East London fashion designer KA WA KEY.
RUNE premieres on 17th August at Round Chapel as part of Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival 2021

A grand, Fashion-Opera spectacle, RUNE is a vast cosmological fantasy from the team behind the award-nominated ROBE (“excellent” – BBC Music) and WEAR (“spellbinding” – Boulezian) — featuring an ensemble of three grand pianos, contemporary dance with interactive sculpture, and high fashion by KA WA KEY.

On a planet where history is forbidden, a young girl dares to tell her story. A voyage across galaxies and millennia, hers is a tale of the archipelagos of Khye-rell and their matterwork, through transdimensional canals and sea lanes to the RUNE of the universe’s origin. This song, her story — through the very act of being told — will have consequences beyond imagining…

Written & Composed by Alastair White
SS22 Capsule Collection by KA WA KEY
Sculpture by Sid the Salmon
Directed by Gemma A. Williams & Jarno Leppanen

PSYCHEDELIC GONG BATHS
MONDAY EVENINGS AT ROUND CHAPEL
Round Chapel Auditorium lit up in purple, orange and yellow lights. Auditorium is empty. There is text over the image that reads: THE PSYCHEDELIC SOCIETY PRESENTS - PSYCHEDELIC GONG BATH, ROUND CHAPEL, with Sound Mysterium
7:45PM - 9:45PM
The first two sonic Gong Bath sessions that took place earlier this month and last month have proved a real hit with our guests. With so many positive and encouraging reviews it made sense to make these sessions a much more regular event. Facilitated by Kat Bumbul of Sound Mysterium and hosted by The Psychedelic Society; feel balanced and refreshed and let Monday evenings at Round Chapel set the tone for your week ahead.

EVENTS AT ST. AUGUSTINE'S TOWER
Our sister venue, St. Augustine's Tower is Hackney's Oldest Building and is a short walk away from Round Chapel. The Medieval tower is located in Hackney Central and we are delighted to announce that the tower has reopened for limited capacity, ticketed events.
The bell room at St. Augustine's Tower is lit with tea lights in glass jars and arranged, along with some string in a circular pattern on the floor. The text on top of the image reads: Psychedelic society presents: TEA CEREMONY & LABYRINTH AT ST. AUGUSTINE'S TOWER, LONDON, With Sound Mysterium
AUGUST 3RD
6:30PM - 9:30PM
A restorative evening of meditation and mindfulness set inside our Medieval tower. Begin your journey with a ceremonial tea ritual inside our pendulum room, then walk through a candle-lit labyrinth in the bell room, accompanied by the unique sounds of ancient singing bowls. The experience can easily blur your perception of time, and once you reach the top of the tower you will be able to experience the most incredible views of London.

A tea ceremony is laid out on the floor of St. Augustine's Tower. There is a brass teapot with bamboo handle, several small, Japanese earthenware cups, some ancient singing bowls and lit up candles. The tea ceremony setting looks inviting, warm and cosy.
St. Augustine's Tower pictured from the outside. The hands of the clock face are at 10 minutes past midday and the London plane trees in the courtyard have green leaves slightly covering the tower.
We plan to make a return to our regular last Sunday of the Month openings in time for Open House London. Details of these openings will be shared in due course on the St. Augustine's Tower website, instagram and twitter.

It's ok to have a cry, just be real and be yourself. You don't have to be anything you're not."
From viral TikTok star to chart sensation, British singer-songwriter Mimi Webb, performed and recorded an entire month's worth of fresh pop vocals as part of 4Music's Fresh Artist of the Month.

All tracks were recorded and performed at Round Chapel; check out an emotional, stripped back version of Mimi's UK Top 10 Chart Hit 'Good Without' or watch all the performances in the series as they get released throughout July:
