New Stewardship Coordinator
Hello tree friends - it's me, Sarah Halonen, your new Stewardship Coordinator! As a life-long nature lover dedicated to the pursuit of ecological awareness and stewardship, I am thrilled to join the LEAF team.
With over 15 years’ experience working in urban parks for various environmental not-for-profit organizations, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the value of our urban forests. More importantly, I’ve learned the importance of engaging and fostering communities in the stewardship of these spaces. It instills within us a sense of hope and pride, and ultimately, an awareness and responsibility for care that goes beyond our urban forests.
In every one of my roles, I’ve had the opportunity to work and forge strong relationships with incredibly dedicated teams of volunteers. Volunteers are the lifeblood of any not-for-profit organization; it is through the contributions of committed volunteers that most of these organizations can attain their goals.
As LEAF Stewardship Coordinator, I’m excited to continue the journey working together to build strong and healthy communities where everyone cares for and values the urban forest.
Moving forward, while Brian will still be supporting LEAF as Acting Community Programs Manager, all replies to the volunteer callout emails will be received by me.
