More than a musician or a performer, Idris Ackamoor is a conjurer who transforms any space he inhabits into a protean state where the past manifests and the future reveals itself. A saxophonist, composer, percussionist, actor, tap dancer, producer, and director, he's the guiding spirit of the San Francisco performance company Cultural Odyssey, and the founder and artistic director of the storied jazz and world music ensemble Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids.
The ensemble includes Idris Ackamoor on saxophones, vocals, keyboards, and percussions, Sandra Poindexter on acoustic and electric violins, vocals and percussions, Bobby Cobb on guitar, and vocals, Tony price on congas and percussions, Charles homes on bass, and Josh Jones on drums and percussions.

Ackamoor has titled his performance "Dream Keepers Awake" in celebration of Mayor London Breed, San Francisco's Board of Supervisor's President Shaman Walton, and the entire Board's historical precedent of reassigning a portion of its Police and Sheriff Departments funds intending to break the cycle of poverty and involvement in the criminal justice system for Black people in San Francisco. The funds will create programs related to youth development, economic opportunity, community-led change, arts and culture, workforce development, and homeownership in the Black community.

AfroSolo Theatre Company, Cultural Odyssey, Lorraine Hansberry Theater Company, and San Francisco Recovery Theater have joined forces to create San Francisco’s Black Legacy Theatre Group, which received funding from the Dream Keeper Initiative. For more information, visit #dreamkeeper@sfgov.org.
The AfroSolo Arts Festival was created and produced by Thomas Robert Simpson. The Festival's mission is to nurture, promote, and present facets of the Black experience through solo performances and the visual and literary arts. An award-winning actor, director, producer, and writer, Mr. Simpson has used AfroSolo’s Community Engagement program to focus on essential issues in the Black community: health, justice, and education.
AfroSolo Theatre Company's mission is to nurture, promote, and present African American and African Diaspora art and culture through solo performances and the visual arts. Founded in San Francisco in 1993 by Thomas Robert Simpson, AfroSolo has provided a forum to give an authentic voice to the diverse experiences of Black people in the Americas. Through art, we bring people of different ethnicities together to explore and share the human spirit that binds us all./(www.afrosolosf.org)
