Louisiana Statewide Changes for registered voters!

Over the last few years, we have all heard the phrase “Black Lives Matter;” we at CCEC are now hoping that the phase “Black Lives Must Vote” becomes equally as known and as effective.  One positive step in that direction for the citizens of Louisiana is the passing of House Bill NO. 84 Act NO. 121 which allows former felons to serve on a Jury.  Thankfully, it’s another tool that allows community members to break down the walls of segregation and biased behaviors, but in order to make a difference in the courts YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO VOTE!

Carrollton/Pension Town Residents:
If you live in the New Orleans area you are aware of the Sewerage and Water Board plant.  If you live in the Carrollton/Pension Town Neighborhood (Oak, Monticello, Carrollton, Claiborne) you are aware of EMDs that are currently being used to support the cities clean water supply.  Unfortunately, the EMDs create a deafening sound to many that live within a 5/6 block radius and for some this has reduced their quality of life.  Removing the politics surrounding this problem, we at CCEC wanted to salute Andreas Hoffman and many members of the Carrollton Riverbend Neighborhood Association for creating a fund to purchase/provide ear plus for residents who are being negatively affected.  To learn more about the fund and the noise blockers contact: https://crna-nola.org/ or call CCEC at 504-638-0044.

CCEC Programming
Youth After School Program – Begins August 16, 2021, for grades K-9, 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday- Thursday.  Students will work in small group settings. We offer homework support, yoga, theater, and cooking classes.  Students are also offered group time to build their self-esteem and social skills. Students openly discuss their adjustment to the many changes in their personal communities as we deal with the effects of coronavirus.  Applications can be found on our website.

Congratulations to Simone Biles for putting her mental health first. She is truly the GOAT.

Thank you for you support of CCEC!
