Reflections on citizen science as 'meshwork' in Limpopo, South Africa
"‘Meshwork’ is used as a metaphor that gives transdisciplinary theory and practice more ‘breathing space for difference’ – being responsive to unique patterns of relations between tribal authorities, the king and his council, government departments and our citizen scientists as part of a community of practice" - Jaqui Goldin.

New impact analysis published 
The Felixstowe Citizen Science Group has published a new impact analysis on the work of their local community nature reserve. Their article includes the Python programming code which they used to create their bar-graphs. They hope it encourages other citizen science groups to also conduct impact analyses in this way.

Eurobioblitz 2021: Save The Date
In September (24-25), researchers, school groups, citizens and wildlife enthusiasts take part in the worlds’ first 48-hour continental BioBlitz! Participants will submit photos and wildlife observations through the iNaturalist app. This is part of INTERSECTIONS, an international collaboration for European Researchers Night. EU-Citizen.Science
The platform doesn't take a summer break! So if you have begun a new citizen science project or discovered an interesting resource during these months, please, do register and share it on our platform. We are always eager to receive your contributions!

 In June, we ran the campaign #MonthOfTheProjects and we have three winners: YouCount, Objective 1000 @JardinMassart, and amai!. You can read more about them on the blog section of the platform.

 

 

ROSiE
The Responsible Open Science in Europe (ROSiE) project develops practical tools to support research ethics and research integrity in open science and citizen science. Check out its new website!

New research paper by Fecher and Hebing (2021) “Few researchers think that societal impact is a priority at their institution, and even fewer think that institutional communication departments reach relevant stakeholders in society”.


Cos4Cloud 

We have published a new video explaining the Cos4Cloud project, and how it boosts citizen science technologies. It is available to watch via YouTube, with subtitles in Spanish, Catalan, German, Dutch, Swedish, French and Greek.

OPEN CALL Action for Sustainable Future
The Open Innovation in Science Impact Lab, is looking for key projects on the topic of sustainability and SDGs. All actors (activists, artists, NGOs, scientists...) are invited to submit their innovative ideas until 30 September

Call for papers
For special issue of the journal Sustainability, on Citizen Science Projects for Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Development Goals. The editors encourage submissions that explore citizen science projects which contribute to solving the environmental challenges related to any of the SDGs.
