This month we have some sad news about Bailee but also lots of great stories, because whatever happens the rescue and helping dogs does not stop as even through sad times, we keep on going for the love of dogs.
Also still time to VOTE  for us TODAY, Saturday 31 July

The Look of Love - How adorable!

This adorable boy Marley was adopted in June and was Best Dog at his mum and dad's wedding recently. Congratulations to the happy couple and to Marley for doing a great job as Best Dog.
Happy Gotcha Day Barney!

7 years ago Tina and Patrick Costello got a call from Suzanne to pick up a pup for fostering...
Barnsley Barney was being auctioned off on FaceBook.
Our two dogs welcomed him into our home and within a week we decided to adopt him ourselves
and “The Three Stooges “was formed.

Thank goodness for Suzanne and UK-GSR.
Where has the time gone says Sultan?

7 years ago, Mum and Dad picked me up from Elswick kennels where I had been for over a year and they adopted me 3 months later. .
Can’t say I’ve not been a bit of a challenge though, never with them but just with certain outside situations, but we worked through them together. I am told I have turned into the most loyal, cuddly, lovable, obedient, playful rouge and I know they love me so very much.
Thus far, this has been the worst year for me, we lost little Betsy and I really miss having her around, moved house and then Mum went and broke her shoulder. Now they tell me there’s more goings on due! I think they mean there will be builders will be moving in and we may have to live in a caravan for a bit Oh lordy!
Well, onwards and upwards.
Regards Sultan (Sully) XXX
Recently adopted - our girl Belle

Well folks earlier on this week our Belle had a lovely lady visit her and adopt her.

We’ve waited to post this as we needed to know Belle was settling ok and her and new Mum were bonding OK . It makes us extremely happy to say she has firmly glued herself to new mums side and is settling so much better than we thought she would .

Be happy Belle of the Ball . Thank you to new mum Bernie for loving this special girl.
Happy 1st first gotcha day Saffy!

Mandy Sutter recalls...  I can’t believe it’s a whole year since we drove to Elswick with our hearts in our mouths to meet the girl that would so quickly become so indispensable to us - the wonderful Saffy, gentle, affectionate, loyal and clever and a born counter surfer!
She is full of a puppy-like curiosity about absolutely everything and it has been an
honour to introduce her to all the things that we suspected even at 6 were completely new to her - walks, being on a lead, the river, the sea, even the woods. She has greeted everything with a mixture of timidity, courage and total amazement. We love you to bits.

Thank you to Suzanne Syers, to Kev and also to Lisa Wilkins and Nia Garrick who have all helped to make us a very happy GSD Mum and Dad.
A special THANK YOU to a special LADY

Back when UK-GSR hadn't been going for very long, we were asked to help a young all black boy called Jet, who had trust issues. A lovely couple from Yorkshire adopted him & this was the beginning of a lovely lady's partnership with myself, Suzanne and UK-GSR.
Yvonne not only became a good friend, she became my right hand woman. For over 10 years she has single handedly vetted every single home that has adopted from us, sourced masses of food, treats, toys etc for the kennel dogs and raised thousands obtaining donated goods from 100's of outlets.
This lady is the backbone of this rescue and spends hours and hours, 7 days a week on the phone, emailing, researching etc etc- for what? She doesn't get paid - none of us do - she does it because she is a RESCUER. It's in her blood. She was born to save dogs lives and she is such an important member of the team.
I just really want to say a massive thank you to Yvonne for all her years dedicated to UK-GSR. I am hoping there are many more years to come. The word Thank you, doesn't seem enough, but I know for Yvonne - seeing all these dogs adopted and living happy lives, is all the thanks she needs.

It's been a whole decade full of Breeze

Colette Adams shared...
So we marks a whole decade of us being taught how to be German shepherd owners (despite having at least 18 years previous experience ). This cow arrived at 7 months old suitably qualified in interior design - with her teeth. Her roles over the years have changed and her latest talent (as recently discovered) is digging the biggest flipping hole at the back of the borders that I have ever seen. She has the loudest, fiercest bark of any dog yet is ordered around daily by a 4.5 kg Yorkie.
Breeze arrived 2 days after we had lost our big girl to CDRM and has gone on to teach us that new dogs don’t replace your old ones - your heart just expands to love more.
This witch has pushed every boundary, broken every rule and yet is loved more than any dog could be. The very best breed in the world and once a shepherd owner always a shepherd owner with rescue pups being the most worthy and deserving.
Thanks Yvonne Shepherd and Kev and Suzanne Syers for all you did to facilitate her being placed with us.x
6 years ago, we drove up to the Wirral to pick up this gorgeous girl Laila.

She was already a well loved and looked after girl, and I promised her mummy that I would always love and look after her.
Laila dog you are the most wonderful, funny, loving, loyal and goofy best friend anyone could wish for, and we all love you all the world and more.

Huge thankyou to Helen E Ure for transporting a youngster to the safety of foster mum Sue Dyson and to Kev Syers for transporting another youngster to the safety of foster mum Myra Shuel recently. Team work makes the dream work. We were so hoping, with your help, for a good outcome but with great regret, we have to bring you extremely sad news about Bailee (was Schatzie), whom you all contributed towards her MRI test vet costs recently, but we felt that you would want to know.
Bailee spent the 15 July undergoing countless scans and tests and was sent home with mum Thursday night with all illnesses ruled out apart from ARD - Antibiotic responsive diarrhea. A treatment plan was in place and specialists were confident she would improve and gain weight and that the treatment plan was for life .
However By Friday morning after vomiting not eating and being lethargic, she was readmitted to the animal hospital and after being on a drip; having everything possible thrown at her to save her; heartbreakingly Bailee died Saturday night, after her heart gave up from sepsis shock.
Her Mum is absolutely broken and her dog brother is pining for her.  Bailee was only 2 years old.
Run free little Bailee  - your mum, the vets, everyone fought for you but you were destined to be an angel . Xxxxxxx
6 years ago Amanda Maxwell drove to Wakefield to meet Teddy.

He jumped straight in the car.. making it very clear he wanted to be part of the family!
My gorgeous old boy turned 11 last week, in his head he’s still a pup! He sadly has developed Spondylosis but that hasn’t stopped him loving life, he is a right chatterbox, he will sit for ages having a head massage and will tell you off if you stop!
A right character who everyone loves, we are so lucky he chose to come home with us, thank you.

Happy 1st Gotcha Day Major.
We saw your picture on the website and fell in love with you. Then came the trip to Preston to visit you and how could we leave without you? Over the last year you have come out of your shell and have started to learn to play with the help of little Jessie who also joined us in January.
Thanks to  Michelle Addison and Myra Shuel and all at UK-GSR for letting us adopt you. John Gilbert.
On National Thank You Day, Deborah Hurleston just wanted to say...
A HUGE thank you to Suzanne Syers for all she does to help giving dogs a new life and for never giving up on them. Even with the pandemic which had an impact on everything and everyone, she just keeps fighting to keep the rescue dogs safe.
Also a MASSIVE thank you for trusting me to be Lazer's mum, I’m not sure where I’d be without this boy!
Lastly, but just as importantly, a BIG thank you to each and every volunteer - be proud of what you do; for that one dog you helped; you have changed their life forever.
4 years ago since Nicky and Paul Setford picked up these beautiful siblings, Ava and Kaiser - 4yrs!!
Can you believe how quickly that's gone! So lucky to have these gorgeous dogs in our lives..
Eternally grateful to Suzanne Syers and Jennifer Claire and everybody connected to this wonderful family!
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY AVA & KAISER! XXXX

MAX PATIENTLY WAITING FOR ADOPTION TO A PET FREE HOME
Hi Folks,  Max here, been back in kennels for a couple of weeks and settling in; patiently waiting for the right forever home. Not my fault that I'm back and I know the people I was with were sad that a health problem meant they were unable to give me the life they so wanted to give me.
My handler and friend Tom Arnott, at the kennels reckons that playing fetch, training and going for a walk makes his afternoon fly by. The other day he tried to confuse me by leaving my ball beside another two but of course I fetched my own one. He's tried the same sort of thing leaving my ball in different positions; even leaving mine behind a football but he just can't trick me.

Well just keep me in mind folks. I'm in kennels in Sunderland. You can read all about me at www.uk-gsr.co.uk and you can fill in an online application to adopt on the website if you have not yet been homechecked.

Max is an affectionate and clever lad who responds well in play and in performing training exercises. In his short stay in his last home he quickly picked up on wait and sit at road crossings. Max needs a new home: preferably an adult home; older dog savvy children if any and needs to be an only pet. Oh and a good sized garden would be great.
This lad needs and deserves his forever home.
