A Church for Circular Head - Making Disciples of Jesus

Prayer Meeting
The great 19th Century missionary to China, Hudson Taylor famously said, ‘when we work, we work, but when we pray, God works.’ In term 2 we were taught to pray to the Lord with the Lord’s Prayer, we then heard Bishop Richard challenge us to follow the example of the early church in Acts 2 and be a church who prays, and so it is clear that it is time for us to intentionally pray together.

We will be praying together, each Friday, 12:30pm-1:30pm in the church foyer. Come for the full hour, or even just drop in for five minutes during your lunch break, but let’s gather together to call upon our God to work.

Bishop’s Training Event – Abundant Grace
The annual Bishop’s Training Event is coming up in September. It will be held on Saturday 18th September. The in person event will be at St Clements Kingston, but there will also be the option to attend a livestream hub in Burnie, or to view it online from home.

The main speaker is Dr John Dickson and it should be great. To find out more info and to register go to anglicantas.org.au/bishops-training-event/

Church Concert
Jan Krom is organising our inaugural church concert on Sunday evening, the 29th August. It is an excuse for us all to spend some time together and enjoy one another’s company, braving the winter chill.

Let Jan know if you can dance, sing, recite a poem, walk a tightrope, act, play an instrument, or just about any talent to be involved. Come along for a fun night together, and some apple pie for supper.

GLO Thanksgiving Service & Celebration Meal
On Saturday 28th August there will be the thanksgiving service for GLO, 2pm at the Christian School. Then at 5:30pm the celebration meal at Riverbend. The meal costs $20 adults, $10 for under 16’s. RSVP for both events by August 14 at www.glo.org.au/thanksgiving

Joel on Leave
I will be taking two weeks parental leave once our baby is born. If you need to contact someone from church urgently then please contact Karen Pyke on 0427 396 240, otherwise leave me a message and I will get back to you upon my return.

Kids Church
As Lyn steps down for a little while, we are very thankful to have Josh, Karen, Sam, & Rebecca teaching our kids as well as Maree, Mikayla, Jenny, Julie, & Gina leading. Please be praying for our Kids Church leaders and for our kids.

We have just finished learning about Jonah. When learning about chapter 4 (which is not in most children’s Bibles) one child said, “I thought the leader was making that story up.” It is great to go deeper into the whole Bible with our Kids.
This term we are learning about the minor prophet Malachi.

Memory Verses
Malachi 3:6
“I the LORD do not change.”

2 Corinthians 1:20
“For, no matter how many promises God’s made, they are yes in Jesus Christ. And so, the Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
Maurice & Amanda
(Church Missionary Society) in Cambodia
Saying goodbye already?  It seems hard to believe we only arrived here three months ago, we've made such good friendships living with the students on campus, it seems like much longer.  So it was was with sadness and joy that we farewelled graduating students as they left the college to return to life and ministry in their own villages.  These young Khmer (Cambodian) men have studied for two years and have a great passion to share with others, not just what they've learnt, but how their own lives have been transformed through their relationship with Jesus too.

Give thanks

  • For the graduating students as they return home and begin sharing their stories.
  • For those governing who have begun a program of vaccinating 12-17yo's, starting Aug 3.
  • For the many we know who have recovered from covid.

Please pray

  • For the nation of Cambodia, as the Delta strain has just lunged across our borders.
  • For our dear friends in Siem Reap who just lost their husband and father to covid.
