No surprises that the Aeronautical Satcom Market or In-flight Connectivity (IFC) Market was one of the worst-hit Satcom segment in 2020. Grounded aircrafts generating near-zero IFC revenues, Airlines’ challenging finances & bankruptcies pausing the IFC market progression, and OEMs ramping down their production rates leading to a drop in line-fit equipment demand, were some of the keys trends that resulted in a turbulent situation for the entire IFC market value chain. It did result in bankruptcies of major service providers and industry consolidation. However, the segment displayed strong fundamentals of increased bandwidth usage per aircraft, as the Aviation Industry continued on a recovery path during Q4 2020 and beyond.
