GENERAL MEETING

General meeting at Daniel Webster Park!* Please join us. Bring a lawn chair, hat, sunscreen, and a mask if you are not fully vaccinated (or maybe even if you are).

Guest speaker will be Kris Romero, Interim Fire Marshall.
At our last board meeting a discussion took place about the problem of illegal fireworks in our neighborhood, which seemed to hit new levels this year. The problem of noise disturbance, debris, animals being traumatized/needing to be drugged, and some veterans whose PTSD may be severely triggered, are all of great concern, along with the general safety hazards. Kris will be joining us in the hope that he can share with us ideas about the most effective ways we can combat this problem, which stubbornly continues even after the celebrations of the Fourth.

- We had a new member join at the last board meeting
- Our newsletter opt-in mailing list continues to grow
- Volunteers stepped forward to help with changing the neighborhood sign boards
- Volunteers offered to deliver flyers in the future.
The Little Library is Back!
Thanks to Tim, the little library in Daniel Webster Park is back. The library was vandalized several times prior to COVID and Tim, who originally built it, faithfully fixed it every time. Tim does not even live in our neighborhood, but is determined to honor the late Officer Daniel Webster and help contribute to our neighborhood and Daniel Webster Park. Thank you Tim!
FLYERS Delivery
- We have people who said they will deliver to the following streets:
- Houses on Glorieta St. NE west through Parsifal St. NE
- Apartments and mobile homes on Glorieta St. NE west through Gen. Marshall St. NE
- If you are willing to deliver flyers in the future, please send an email to contact@slananm.org, let us know which streets and blocks you would like to do, and one of our Board members will contact you.
- If we do not have enough volunteers to deliver flyers door-to-door, another option would e to do another US Postal Service mailing. A neighborhood-wide mailing costs approximately $600. If you would consider donating money for a mailing, please send an email to contact@slananm.org with your contact information and one of our Board members will contact you. NOTE: SLANA is a 501(c)(4) and donations are not tax deductible.
City Council Meeting Aug. 2, 5 PM - Zoom
The City Council meeting tomorrow, August 2, was originally going to be held in person, but due to recent COVID developments it is going to be held virtually. Planning meetings, designing and delivering flyers, updating the neighborhood signs on Copper, taking minutes, serving as a board member, maintaining the little library in Daniel Webster Park, and taking care of other things that come up all take time, and sometimes take money. If you are not currently a member, please consider joining. If you are not sure of your membership status or if you are interested in being on the board, please send an email to contact@slananm.org.
