If you're into chippin', dippin' and margarita sippin', Saturday, August 14, is your day to shine. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., slurp your way through the Taco & Margarita Festival at the Greensboro Coliseum's White Oak Amphitheatre, pour favor. Warning: If tequila makes your clothes fall off, this is nacho type of thang.

On Wednesday, August 11, Train will meet Virginia North Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum where they'll Play That Song and all the others you know by heart. Plus, they'll be joined by special guest Vertical Horizon so that you'll get Everything You Want.

Such a Raya light

Family movie night gets the glow-up this Saturday night at LeBauer Park's Spartan Cinema. Raya and the Last Dragon blazes onto the big screen at sunset. But don't be dragon your tail, or you'll miss nabbin' a good seat.

Dances well with others

Tonight at 6:30 p.m., sashay over to LeBauer Park for a Building Community Dance Workshop, a free program focused on relating to others through group movement. We're totally into dance after trying the hokey pokey and, thankfully, turning ourselves around. 

BMX-cellent

We do all of our own stunts – though not usually on purpose. On Saturday, August 14, at 7 p.m., catch thrill-seeking daredevils performing 60-foot jumps and insane stunts at Nitro-Circus: You Got This. Bottoms up, baby.

Smells Sounds like a winner

It takes two to tango, but six to tango ensemble. On Sunday evening, enjoy a free MUSEP concert, featuring the Lorena Guillen Tango Ensemble, who happens to be the Not Your Average Folk Contest winner. Following their Pan-Latin fusion beats, enjoy the soulful R&B grooves of ALLL. And for Pan-Latin fusion eats, you might try Cacaos.

Laugh again with Gaffigan

Renowned comedian, actor, producer and NYT bestselling author Jim Gaffigan rolls The Fun Tour into Greensboro on Monday, August 16, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who says, "A cheeseburger a day will keep the feelings away," is our kind of people: those who hide their feelings behind self-deprecating humor and unmindful eating.

Better glazes than Krispy Kreme

If your mantra is seize the clay, Art Alliance Greensboro has a two-day workshop to help you level up your finish. Guest artist Lisa Orr will teach you how to create colorful layers and glazes as rich as gemstones. After this class, you'll be all fired up!

Kersey Valley Sunflower Extravaganza opens their garden gates for photos and flower-picking this weekend. Every hour is golden hour from August 14 - September 12. This place gets a little seedy after that.

We know you're scared of the unknown and don't wanna be alone, so join the peeps who will be sunflower-peepin' at the McLaurin Farms Sunflower Festival, every weekend through September 5. Take a lesson from the flowers and turn your face to the sun. But also take a lesson from us and don't look directly at it. Bad idea.

We like our greens with par-mesan

A little birdie told us . . .  The Wyndham Championship tees off on Wednesday, August 11, and plays through Sunday, August 15. You'll have to get tickets or tune in to see who wins it all, but we all know the proof is in the putting.

The Carolina Theatre brings you a week filled with films, music and special events. We love the loaded schedule and hope it's not just a stage.

• The Summer Film Fest features four fantastic films this week: The Help, Bohemian Rhapsody, Double Indemnity and our personal fav, Best in Show. If you like Schitt's Creek, you'll love our pick, which was co-written by and co-stars Eugene Levy. And if you don't like Schitt's Creek, why are you even reading this newsletter?
• Gimme Three Steps up the Stairway to Heaven on Friday, August 13. If classic rock is your thing, don't miss out on a Ghostlight Concert featuring WristBand and Led Head paying tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin. One, two, three, turn it up!
• Say hello to Farewell Friend on Saturday, August 14. At this Ghostlight Concert, the band debuts their latest album, Samson, which is comprised of songs about lost faith. Opening the show is indie-folk duo Wild Roots Rising. It's sure to be a night that will folk you up.
• On Wednesday, August 11, at 9:30 a.m., the Carolina Kids Club concludes their summer season with Paddington 2. Pairs well with marmalade, but we're pretty sure you can't bring that into the theatre.

• On Thursday, August 12, enjoy a movie under the stars with Sideways, starring Paul Giamatti and Sandra Oh. Sip slowly so you don't end up sideways.
• Another movie under the stars, Unhinged, plays on Friday, August 13. We have no idea what it's about, but we were considering that title for our memoir. Guess we're going with plan B, Total Waste.
• What pairs best with the blues? Reds and whites, of course. On Saturday, August 14, at 5 p.m., enjoy Grove's Red, White & Blues Fest. You might have the "Three O'Clock Blues," but after five, you'll be feelin' fine.

Recently, one of our staffers took a day trip to Gibsonville and Hillsborough and we're spilling the tea. Gas up that Mini Cooper – or minivan – and get ready to roll!

All aboard, next stop Gibsonville!

Gibsonville is known for its locomotive history. Not guitars, as one might think. Here are a few of the must-sees as you chuff through town.

• Where the selfie-lovers at? Get your best filter ready! That gorgeous mural might look somewhat familiar because it's similar to Greensboro's own (and painted by the same local artist, Gina Franco). Find it at 212 Main St.
• Ines Bakery on Main St. features Argentinian-style delights. Yes, we left more stuffed than the spinach empanadas we ordered (so tasty). And yes, we hit the selfie mural first.
• If you need a little caffeine pick-me-up, three words: The Gilded Bean.
• No NC town is complete without at least one local brewery. Gibsonville is home to the Toasty Kettlyst, which serves as the hoppy catalyst for getting you, well, toasted.
• Wearology is new to the area and sells sustainable and ethical fashion so you can shop til you drop without doing unnecessary damage to the environment. Sorry, we can't help your wallet.
• The pièce de résistance, the Gibsonville Garden Railroad, runs every Saturday morning from April to December. We suggest chugging here before chugging beer.

Hillsborough's alive with the sound of music

Keep on truckin' east on Interstate 40 until you hit Hillsborough, which boasts a charming downtown and loads of outdoor fun along the emo Eno River. There's lots to do here, but we're just going to cover our tried and true.

• The Historic Occoneechee Speedway Trail is a one-mile wooded loop trail along what used to be a racetrack. Enjoy nature as well as relics of its past life. It's no Radiator Springs, but your kiddos will love it, nonetheless. Pairs well with pistachio ice cream.
• Ayr Mount is a historic plantation home with gorgeous grounds and a "Poet's Walk" trail, which we found inspiring. Ahem: We walked along a stony path, skipping while we practiced math, ending in the Eno to take a bath, until the groundskeeper displayed his wrath, because of the clothes we no longer hath.
• For lunch or dinner, the Wooden Nickel Pub offers farm-to-table eats plus a great selection of craft beers. The burgers are so fresh, don't be surprised if you hear distant mooing. Sorry, beer with us and our lame jokes.
• End the day when – and where – the cows come home at Mapleview Creamery. Here, you'll definitely hear mooing as you eat your ice cream practically straight from the source. Our pick: Honey Toasted Almond. It's udderly delicious.

We thought you said circus training

Tonight at 6 p.m., head to the Morehead Park Trailhead on the Greenway for a free fitness class: circuit training with Sally Maley. We really hope it's a short circuit or we might blow a fuse.

Everybody in the boat gettin' tipsy

If you're in need of a good paddling, Greensboro Parks & Rec has ya covered. For night paddles, meet at Lake Higgins on Wednesday, August 11, at 8 p.m., or Lake Brandt on Thursday, August 12, same time. Yippee kayak yay, beaches.

Whatever happens, this meant something

We don't know what your weekend plans are – hello, we just gave you, like, a million ideas! – but we'll be in bed with our girlfriend, Edy. She can be a little vanilla at times, but she really likes to spoon and doesn't mind staying up all hours of the night to binge Modern Love, which returns to Amazon on Friday!
