Blessing for Elul

Beth Yisrael have a good, healing, and a blessed month of Elul. May blessings of holy grace nurture our life on Earth with the gifts of love, peace, and a message of hope. Sacred essences of Elul, please continue to inspire us, nourish us with vitality, guide us, and glow love, life, joy, friendship, and faith into our lives, our families, our communities, and our world. Amen.
 

Let's embody and enact a universal, goodwill message of love, hope, harmony, and peace for people of all faiths, Nature, Planet Earth, the Cosmos, and for all future generations. Amen. May love bless us all, light our faith, strength our will, and call us back home to the Sacred place of holiness and to the Divine Source that unites us all.

Crystalize Our Best

The month of Elul is one of the most elevated months in the Hebrew calendar, the time when God is most accessible to us. The month of Elul is a gateway, opening to a very meaningful period in the yearly cycle in Judaism and Jewish spirituality. Elul marks a time of repentance in preparation for the High Holy Days, celebrated in the following month, Tishrei.

Elul is called the month of mercy and forgiveness.
Elul is the last month in the Jewish year and is known for spiritual rituals and penitential prayers which are very powerful in accessing and integrating cosmic quantum energies that connect us to remorse and forgiveness. These observances activate our will and empower us to connect with the Divine Source and feel blessed by the grace of God.

Elul is a Call for Awakening
 

We are being called to awaken our spirits' longing to unite with the Holy of all Holies. During Elul, we blast our horn--the shofar--every morning except on Shabbat from Rosh Chodesh Elul, which is the beginning of the month, until the day before Rosh Hashanah. The shofar blasts are meant to arouse us to begin soul searching and draw closer to God in preparation for the coming Day of Judgement, Rosh Hashanah, which is the Jewish New Year; and the Day of Atonement, the Holiest day in Judaism, Yom Kippur. These High holidays provide a God-given way for humankind to come back into harmonious relation with the Divine, within ourselves, and with our families, friends, and communities.

*A Time of Preparation
Healing of a Nation
 

Elul is a time of spiritual preparation for entering the New Year for each one of us and as a whole, as one united tribe--the tribe of Yisrael. Jewish religion teaches that on the Holy Day of Rosh Hashanah, each person is written down for a good or a poor year, based on their actions in the previous one, and their sincere efforts at atoning for past mistakes, sins, or harm. 


It's a time of awakening to the consequences of our day-to-day actions, words, thoughts, and intentions in order to marshal the strength to seek and grant forgiveness. This cycle, originated thousands of years ago, involves renewal, remorse, spiritual growth, contrition, and purification for the coming New Year. As individuals and as a nation, we are guided by moral and universal core values as codified in the Ten Commandments and the Bible.

Elul's significant ritual practice is to recite Selichot, which are penitential poems and prayers that are usually recited between midnight and dawn. The Thirteen Attributes of Mercy are a central theme throughout these prayers, which are said in the period leading up to the Holy High Holidays, and on Fast Days.


These Selichot hold the magic of shining frequencies that are associated with forgiveness, love of God, peace, and a holistic soulful way of healing our being. These prayers uplift our spirit, give us strength, nurture hope, and align our thoughts and actions toward a positive mindset of love, mercy, goodness, and goodwill. 


The Selichot essences embody the Divine holistic energies that feed our souls, elevate our spirits, and fill our hearts with elements of faith, wholeness, hope, and harmony ♥

כְּתִיבָה וַחֲתִימָה טוֹבָה

During the month of Elul we greet each other with wishes for a good year. The standard Hebrew blessing is
"K'tiva VeChatima Tovah," which translates to English as, "A good writing and sealing of judgement." This prayer asks that the person be written and sealed in the Book of Life for a good, blessed year.
AMEN.

חֹדֶשׁ אֱלוּל טוֹב וּמְבֹרָךְ לְכָל עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל. אָמֵן
