NSW Non-Government Schools Building Grants Assistance Scheme
Spectrum Analysis assists with AISNSW Education Infrastructure Fund applications

The NSW government, through the AISNSW Education Infrastructure Fund, are in the process of allocating $60m to Independent Schools for major expansion of existing campuses or opening greenfield locations in high growth areas of NSW. Initial applications were made and we understand over 140 schools applied, and this was short listed to around 30 schools.

We have provided analysis for 10 school clients in the last two rounds of the NSW application process. In the previous round held in December 2019, Spectrum Analysis contributed to four submissions, which successfully resulted in three being approved for funding.

In the latest round, Spectrum Analysis has worked with six applicants to provide the demographic information needed to complete the applications.

Areas that had to be addressed in the applications included:
i. Definition of a relevant demographic area for demographic analysis
ii. Consideration and identification of the relevant student catchment area

Information then needed to relate to the school’s specific geographic area included:
c. Population
i. Current population
ii. Current school aged population (aged 5 to 19)
iii. Projected population growth
iv. Projected growth in the school aged population (aged 5 to 19)
v. Current demand for independent education in the area
vi. School enrolment projections
vii. Evidence that population growth and demand for independent education will be enough to support projected enrolments
d. Community
i. Demographic characteristics of local community (ie cultural diversity)
ii. Socio-economic status of local community (ie SEIFA or household income etc)
iii. Investigation of competitive environment (competitor schools in the area)

All the data required to undertake this level of analysis can be accessed, interpreted and delivered in a meaningful way by Spectrum Analysis. If your school is involved in Government funding applications, or this type of information is required for internal (Board Level) decisions, please contact us for a free consultation.

LinkedIn for Women https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/linkedin-women-sue-ellson/
Online LinkedIn Workshop for Year 12s

Last week, Sue Ellson conducted a 90 minute online LinkedIn Workshop for over 70 Year 12 students at Camberwell Girls Grammar School (CGGS).

In addition to her normal LinkedIn content, Sue invited the students to discuss issues for women in individual student breakout rooms based on this article about LinkedIn for women (note to self, these tips apply to all people on LinkedIn).

This was Sue's third annual presentation at CGGS with most of the Year 12 students completing their LinkedIn Profile, adding their CGGS Education and joining the CGGS Alumni Group during the workshop. A recording is being sent to the school for students who could not attend on the day and for any students who would like to review the instructions at a later date. Sue updates her LinkedIn Presentation every year to include the latest LinkedIn features and she also makes her first four books on LinkedIn, Careers, Business and Marketing available to download.

Whilst Sue recommends that LinkedIn Workshops occur in the first half of Year 11 so that students have an opportunity to utilise LinkedIn during their studies and for securing part time work experience, this process at CGGS has ensured that Old Grammarians remain connected to the school long after their final examination and helps students develop their own networks whilst they are still at school. Tracking students down after they have left school is a very time consuming and costly task.

🚀 If you need further assistance with LinkedIn for your school, college, university or students, please contact Sue Ellson +61 402 243 271 sueellson@sueellson.com.
