How to Search for the right Volunteering Role

2. Then on the next page, click Search for Volunteer Roles
|
|
|
3. Select what you are interested in doing. You can narrow down your search by using these search fields:
- Areas - list the types of organisations that you can volunteer for e.g. Animals, Children, etc. (Select up to 3 interests)
- Activities - list the types of volunteering roles you could do e.g. Caring, Music, etc. (Select up to 3 activities)
- Skills - list the types of roles by what skills you can provide e.g. carpentry, I.T. Skills, etc. (check any number of boxes)
- Travelling Distance - list roles within your area and how far you are willing to travel
- Availability - list roles by days and times you are available (check available times)
- Age Range - list roles within your age range (must be 13 years or older, please note that there are a limited number of roles for U18's)
- Support & Type - list roles based on what support they provide e.g. wheelchair access, travel expenses paid, etc. and by what the role is for e.g. a one-off event, virtual volunteering, etc. (check all applicable boxes)
- Application Process - list roles that don't ask for a DBS check, application forms and/or references (check all applicable boxes)

4. Next, click on the Details & Contacts button to find out more information about any of the searched roles
|
|
|
5. When you have found a role you are interested in, click on the Register Interest button
|
|
|
You will then be asked to Log In or, if you are new, to Register your details
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you complete your personal profile as incomplete profiles will NOT be accepted
|
|
|
6. Once you are registered, you will be able to search for more opportunities, however please note that we only send your details to the organisation recruiting once you are an approved volunteer (this means that you must complete your personal profile)
- You can select up to a maximum of 3 roles at a time
- For roles that you are interested in, you can (and we encourage you to) send a message to the organisation(s) telling them about your experience, why you would like to volunteer and your preferred contact method (email or phone)

7. We will forward your details (including your message) on to the organisation advertising the roles and ask them to contact you within 10 working days.
You will be able to review the details of the roles that you have confirmed an interest in and also see the contact details of the organisation by logging in and going to Your Volunteering Roles (this can be found at the top of the page).
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The volunteer centre does not search for roles on your behalf, unless you book an appointment to see an advisor or you have completed a contact form, therefore it is important that you take the opportunity once registered to search and apply for roles.
