Greetings from sweltering Chicago! Come by our beautiful store on Michigan Avenue and kick back with a book, our gorgeous views of the park, and most importantly, our A/C. Last week we finally went live with our e-commerce website where you can order books directly through us!  We are happy to ship directly to you or hold your books for in-store pickup.

We are super excited to host Nickolas Butler tomorrow evening for the release of his new book Godspeed!  Nickolas will be in conversation with Chicago legend Mark Bazer.  Nickolas is driving in for this IN-PERSON event so be sure to stop by to listen to what will be an interesting and entertaining event! Oh, and this free event will be held in our beautiful open courtyard on the 4th floor of our building. Come by at 7:00pm and enjoy a glass of wine with us.  If you can't make it in person, we will also be streaming the event live and you can register for free here

Join us on TOMORROW, July 27th at 7:00pm central to help celebrate the release of Godspeed by Nickolas Butler! Nickolas will be in conversation with local hero Mark Bazer. This event will be in-store and simulcast virtually!

Nickolas Butler is the internationally bestselling author of the novels Shotgun Lovesongs, The Hearts of Men, and Little Faith, and the story collection Beneath the Bonfire. Butler is the recipient of multiple literary prizes and commendations and has published articles, reviews, short stories, and poetry in publications such as Ploughshares, Narrative, and The New York Times Book Review, among others. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, he now lives with his wife and two children on sixteen acres of land adjacent to a buffalo farm in rural Wisconsin.

Mark Bazer is the Editorial Director, New Business, Leo Burnett; host and creator of "The Interview Show," on Chicago's PBS station, WTTW, and filmed at The Hideout.

Join us on July 29th at 7:00pm to help celebrate Willa C. Richards’ incredible debut novel, The Comfort of Monsters! Willa will be in conversation with Lindsay Hunter.

Willa C. Richards is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote Fellow. She earned her PhD in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she was awarded the Sheila Roberts Prize for best short story twice, the Thomas J. Bontly Faculty Fiction Award, and the Academy of American Poets Edward Ryan Prize. Her first story, “Failure to Thrive,” was published by TheParis Review last fall.

Lindsay Hunter is the author of two story collections and two novels, most recently Eat Only When You're Hungry (FSG). She lives in Chicago with her family.

Join us on Monday, August 2nd at 7:00pm central to help properly celebrate (IN-PERSON!) the paperback release of Exile VIP Christie Tate's incredible memoir Group:  How One Therapist and a Circle of Strangers Save My Life. Christie will be in conversation with Gina Frangello!

Christie Tate is a Chicago-based author whose essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, McSweeney's, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. Her debut memoir Group was published in October 2020 by Avid Reader Press, and Reese Whitherspoon selected Group as its November book club pick.

Gina Frangello is the author of the memoir Blow Your House Down: A Story of Family, Feminism, and Treason. She has also published four books of fiction, including A Life in Men and Every Kind of Wanting. She is the Creative Nonfiction Editor at the Los Angeles Review of Books, having previously edited at The Rumpus, The Nervous Breakdown, TriQuarterly Online, The Coachella Review, and Other Voices magazine, where she founded the book imprint Other Voices Books. Gina has a column at Psychology Today and runs a full service company for writers, Circe Consulting, with the writer Emily Rapp Black. www.ginafrangello.org.
