Thursday Morning Men's Group
|
|
Tomorrow morning (Thursday, 29th) at 7 AM, we will gather at St. Francis of Assisi to study God's word and pray. The group known as "Skunks & Scooters" would like to welcome other men to join them as they begin "Into The Breach," a video series produced by Knight of Columbus.
"Into the Breach is a call to battle for Catholic men which urges them to embrace wholeheartedly masculine virtues in a world in crisis."
Click here to watch the trailer. We hope you will consider joining us in our journey of becoming more prayerful and faithful Catholic men for our family, Church, and community.

Mass Intentions – what, why and how
|
|
Pope Paul VI said, “The Mass is the most perfect form of prayer!” The Mass has immense power and countless miracles and conversions have occurred throughout the centuries by offering Masses for a specific intention or person. Mass intentions are a great treasure of the Church and have a spiritual weight that is incalculable. The practice of offering Mass for intentions is an ancient one, dating back to the early church.
Mass intentions are a vital part of an active participating catholic community. This is because the Church considers the Mass as the greatest possible prayer of intercession insofar as it is the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the paschal mystery of his death and resurrection.
An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons:
in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday or anniversary)
in petition for health concerns (such as illness or hospitalization)
or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died
As Catholics, we believe praying for the others to be one of the greatest forms of prayer we can offer someone.
In the words of Saint John Paul II: ‘If you really wish to follow Christ, if you want your love for him to grow and last, then you must be faithful to prayer. It is the key to the vitality of your life in Christ. Without prayer, your faith and love will die.’
If you would like a Mass intention requests for daily or weekend Masses. Please call Areli Pineda at 770-382-4549, ext 10 or email at apineda@stfac.org to discuss availability.

St. Francis invites each of us to be generous and spend time with Jesus Christ in Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist as a Guardian. Feel Jesus’ love and mercy present in the Holy Eucharist and allow him to heal and renew your soul.
Adoration, each Friday from 9:30am – 7:00pm. Please enter through the narthex doors in the back of the property.
What is Adoration?
Adoration is adoring and honoring the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The Blessed Sacrament is held within a holder called a monstrance. During this time with Jesus, recite your favorite prayers, read the bible, pray a rosary, or other types of prayerful devotions. You can talk to God or sit in total stillness. All are invited for as much time as you wish to spend.
Becoming an Adoration Guardian
Everyone is invited to come visit, worship, and adore the Blessed Sacrament. To make sure adoration can safely take place, at least one person, but preferably two, is with our Lord at all times. These guardians make it possible for all parishioners to experience the blessings of Eucharistic adoration.
Guardians can commit to spending time in adoration a specific hour each Friday. Also, Adoration guardian substitutes fill in for guardians or during open adoration hours.
Do you ever stop to listen to yourself breathe?
It may sound like a crazy question in today’s nonstop, plugged-in reality. But many parishioners come and sit in the church, and simply breathe. It may be five minutes; it may be an hour.
All ages and time commitments are welcome to participate.
If you can spend some time with him in Adoration, please call the front office (770-382-4549). We need Guardians during each hour that the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.
