Week 3 of Summer programming
is in the books!

The summer keeps going and so does the Summer Bridge program! This week has been packed with all sorts of excitement, including our daily enrichment clubs and Friday fun! Throughout the program, Students are consistently working hard and improving all around. We would like to take the time to thank everyone for their hard work as we are near the second half of Summer Bridge.

Breaking News!
This week, we are proud to announce that Arete has secured funding as a Summer Rising provider! Summer Rising is New York City's free summer plan for any child in grades K-12, including those with disabilities who want to participate. We are so happy we are able to be part of this. This will allow us more funding to ensure that the fun is bigger and better this Summer! 😊

Summer Rising creates a bridge back for school. Every day students will be provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks so that they are energized and not left hungry. By clicking this link Summer Rising Locations you will see a variety of locations for summer rising and our school is one of them.

WE ROCK ATTENDANCE!!
We’re very excited to say that the attendance these past two weeks for the enrichment program has been amazing. Around 91% of students have been present and we would like to thank them for coming in consistently!

Those students who attend every day are awarded with a special lunch every week! This week students will be treated to a chicken dish.

To understand the excitement of our program doing so well we decided to interview our Dean and Program Administrator Carlos Perez!

How do you feel about this accomplishment?

“I feel like I have the right team at the right time,” says Mr. Perez after hearing about these accomplishments.

Announcements:

Progress reports are sent home with students! All students are receiving their progress reports on Monday, July 26, 2021.

Upcoming News:

The Summer Showcase of Student Talent and Learning will be August 5th
- The showcase is one of the most anticipated event of the school. Parents have the opportunity to see what their child has been working on & learning throughout the summer!

MS/HS223 Parent Meeting will be held Tuesday July 27th, 2021 @4:30pm 2nd floor Library

COVID19-Guidelines

As the program continues our faculty and staff make sure to still follow all COVID-19 guidelines to have a safe space for everyone in the building.

First, in every classroom posters have been taped on the door, reminding students about the guidelines and policies.
Second, every room has a hand sanitizer dispenser, protecting the health of everyone
Third, the building has added 6th feet apart stickers for students when walking down the hallway!

Students Interview Highlights:

Shannellie Reinoso (7th grade)

Do you think the classes and work given help you get ready for the upcoming grade?
- “Yeah because it reviews past lessons that I have forgotten and It makes me remember stuff which makes me better at it now"

Aisha Jangana (6th grader)

What is your enrichment club? What do you like about it so far?
- “Guitar and what i like about it so far is that we’re learning about how to use the picks for the guitar and learning how to hold them and also use the guitar at the same time.
