“Riding a bike is everything to a cyclist. The friendship and camaraderie you have with other cyclists …to a cyclist, it was the be-all and end-all of your life.” ~Tommy Godwin, double bronze medal winner in the 1,000m time trial and the team pursuit in the 1948 Olympics
It was great this past week to be officially out on the roads with the Eagles again. Thursday night was a hammer fest as usual and the rain held off on Saturday morning for all the groups. We had a decent turn out and a lot of fun, but know that if you're a regular Eagle and you weren't there, you were definitely missed. We probably even asked someone how you're doing. So although it's late in the season, I'd encourage you to join - there are still months of riding ahead of us.
And here we are - a new week and new rides to come. All our group rides are a go: Tuesday night "Learn to Ride", Wednesday eveningeGALS ride, the regular GOOFS ride on Wednesday and the slower GOOFS ride on Thursday as well as Hammer Ride Thursday night and our longer weekend rides.
Please Note: because of some bad road surfaces, the Wednesday GOOFS ride will be changing their route to this one.
The eGALS
The eGALS is a women only group ride. Their goal is to instruct and inspire female cyclists of all abilities to ride more confidently in a safe and inclusive environment. They ride on Wednesday nights and some Saturday mornings. This Wednesday, they will be joining the Newmarket Cycle group ride that leaves from Riverwalk Commons at 6:30 PM. More information can be found on the webpage.
