The Way - Summer 2021

The summer 2021 edition of The Way has just been published online and can also be downloaded.

The edition includes messages from denominational leaders based around the theme of God unlocking his Kingdom, leaders of a Maranatha Yoga online Christian community talk about how it has grown during the pandemic, and hundreds of children and young people enjoy fun in the sun at the Eden Network Youth Church's Ablaze event.

Readers also have the chance to meet David Taylor, the Salvation Army's new divisional commander for Cumbria, Sarah Hulme - who worked for the Diocese for nearly ten years - tells us more about her new job as the Methodist Church's Rural Mision and Ministry Officer and learn how an ecumenical group in the Central Lakes Mission Community have developed a series of 10 special pilgrimages linking places of worship.

    Bishop's Harvest Appeal 2021

A leaflet and poster are now available for churches to download for this year's Bishop's Harvest appeal.

The 2021 appeal will continue to support the work of the Mothers' Union in the Democratic Republic of Congo helping women to read, write and escape the cycle of poverty.

Meanwhile, working alongside Christian Aid, the appeal has supported communities in the occupied Palestinian territories that had been deeply impacted by the COVD-19 pandemic, ensuring everyone can receive their fair share of a just harvest. That will continue this year.

Three UK organisations that are working for a fairer and more sustainable world will also continue to benefit: Cumbria Development Education Centre, Carlisle One World Centre, and Global Justice Now.

Two special video resources for primary and secondary schools will also be available.

        Generosity Week Resources

The Church of England has rolled out a full suite of resources to support churches who may want to engage in Generosity Week.

It's suggested that churches may want to run such a week around Harvest time; it offers an opportunity for churches to reflect on God’s generosity and celebrate God’s generosity within our church’s ministry and mission.

Churches are invited to explore this through eight days of service and worship materials, as well as stories from our churches of God's generosity in action.

A full suite of downloadable resources - including daily morning prayer services, Eucharists, two Living Faith sessions, help for churches to engage the wider community with Generosity Week, customisable marketing resources and podcasts - have been created.

  • Click here to access the Generosity Week resources.

Meanwhile a series of webinars have also been arranged about How to have a good Generosity Week. You can book on by clicking one of the links below:
