Dear friends and colleagues,

I hope this email finds you in good health and happiness.

The month has been a whirlwind of activity, with opposition for the Government's proposals to criminalise trespass in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts (PCSC) Bill coming from offices at the Council of Europe, to the streets of London.

In this monthly update, we share our ongoing work to highlight the need for action to address issues faced by Romany and Traveller people when registering with a GP, provide updates on the Government's draconian proposals to criminalise trespass and much more.

Warmest wishes,
Sarah Mann

Update from our casework:

“This month we heard from a teacher working with a young person we put forward for the Women of the World foundation 'WOWsers: Creative Explosion' project. The teacher praised Jolene’s ‘fab’ work in an online youth group where she asked why Gypsy culture isn’t taught in schools. The group were really enthusiastic and encouraged Jolene to write a message to the local council. We are so proud of her!”
Avril, Outreach and Youth Coordinator

“I sat with Jolene for the first few classes, but now she’s doing it on her own – happy to speak to the other people in the class. She’s really enjoying it.”
Kathy, Jolene’s mum
Jolene outside her local County Hall asking 'Why don't schools teach Gypsy culture?'
Great work, Jolene!
