Summer Camp 2021!
APC to Zoo Atlanta
Students decorating bird houses at the L.P. Grant Mansion.
During July 12-16, the Atlanta Preservation Center welcomed 20 elementary age students from the City of Refuge, in collaboration with a number of wonderful community and preservation partners.

For these five days, children learned and explored in and around Grant Park. While outdoors, they visited historic spots in Grant Park such as the Lion Bridge, Milledge Fountain, and Constitution Spring, and learned how to identify the ten most common birds in Georgia and took part in bird watching in the park.

Each day they visited a different section in the Zoo from the Asian Forest to the Scaly Slimy Spectacular. One of the highlights from the Zoo was an encounter with a Blue-Tongued Skink named Reggie.
A hands-on visit to the reptile house at Zoo Atlanta.
During their time at the Atlanta Preservation Center, we talked about the importance of preservation and architecture in Atlanta and our community through conversation, arts, and crafts. Each camper also received a copy of professor Danielle Willkens’ book Architecture for Teens.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible and generous partners listed below, as well as professor and APC board member Danielle Willkens.

THANK YOU!

We are truly grateful for their support and the opportunity to partner on this camp. We look forward to supporting this camp next year!
