WCC Interested Neighbour Registration

Register here to find out if a particular property applies for a resource consent.

You can do this for any property within Wellington however (some exceptions apply for Embassies, Prisons and Police Stations).

If they receive a resource consent application WCC will inform those registered. You are then able to request copies of the application documents, and then send in any comments you wish to make. These are forwarded on to the planner who is assessing the application, and saved to the property file.

MESSAGE FROM GERALDINE MURPHY
ICW SPOKESPERSON ON SEISMIC MATTERS

MBIE: Let us know the challenges you’re facing in the Earthquake-prone Building System
Survey closes 5pm 18 August 2021

MBIE are looking for feedback from residential earthquake-prone building unit owners and representative groups as per an MBIE survey to understand the challenges owners are facing in the Earthquake-prone Building (EPB) system. (See following survey request from MBIE) This is the first time such an opportunity has been made available by MBIE.   The survey has been sent directly to owners who registered and Expression of Interest for the Financial Assistance Scheme to MBIE or Kainga Ora.

ICW encourages all owners in earthquake-prone buildings to respond to ensure MBIE hear a full range of experiences of living and complying with the legislation.  Feedback is also being sought from representatives of the groups undertaking the investigation of options, through to the construction work.

While the MBIE feedback refers to residential owners and the Financial Assistance Scheme available for a targeted group of owner-occupiers, the survey is open to any owners in earthquake-prone buildings to respond and covers both financial and non-financial barriers to strengthening.

 Some points to note:
  1. Q11 estimated costs to strengthen your building, including a breakdown (if known):
  • make it clear if GST is included or not
  • include the investigation costs; the full project costs (ie, Bldg Consent - Code of Compliance)
  • other costs not included in the full costs (eg, relocation costs, storage, owners' own legal costs, etc) - owner specific costs
  1. If you prefer to talk to MBIE directly to answer the questions you can contact them on building@mbie.govt.nz
  2. If you find the questions do not cover your situation or feedback, or the comment boxes have length restrictions, you could note that you will send a separate email to building@mbie.govt.nz
  3. recommend that you provide your contact details so responses can be clarified if needed and linked with any additional email you may send
This information will also be sent to the ICW wider email list and to the Body Corporate Chairs' Group for circulation.  Apologies in advance if you get several emails - we want to ensure everyone gets it.  If there are other owners in your building who may not get an email, please forward to them.

If you have any problems with the survey link not working, email building@mbie.govt.nz or reply to ICW and we will resend the link.

If you have any questions you wish to discuss, ICW is happy to help where we can.

Earthquake-prone building owners survey

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) would like feedback from residential earthquake-prone building unit owners and representative groups on the Earthquake-prone Building Financial Assistance Scheme.

We want to better understand the financial challenges that owners face in strengthening their buildings to meet the requirements under the Building Act 2004.

Your feedback will be part of the 12-month review of the Financial Assistance Scheme. MBIE will report to the Minister for Building and Construction and the Minister of Finance, summarising the feedback we get from you and suggestions for how the scheme could be improved.

We would also like your feedback on other ways that building owners could be supported to meet the requirements under the Building Act 2004. Your feedback will help shape future work in this area.

How to provide feedback

CONSULTATION
Trading and Events in Public Places Policy

WCC is reviewing their policies that set the framework for how they manage trading and event activities in our public places in Wellington.

The Council needs to have rules and guidance to manage trade and event activities in public spaces. Sometimes there is competing use of our public places which can increase the risk of preventable accidents, obstructions, hazards, or misuse.

Share your views by either completing:
  • an online survey submission, or
  • download a submission form and:
    • email it to policy.submission@wcc.govt.nz
    • post it to us to Freepost 2199, Trading and Events in Public Places Policy, PO Box 2199, Wellington 6140.
You are also welcome to make an oral submission which in September 2021.
This consultation is open until 5pm, Monday 16 August 2021
