Cardboard Beds for Tokyo Olympic Athletes
Athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will sleep on beds made from recycled cardboard and customisable mattresses by Japanese bedding company Airweave. The bed frames are made from recycled cardboard, while the modular mattresses are made from polyethylene fibres that Airweave says can be recycled an unlimited number of times. Surfing made its long awaited debut at the Tokyo Olympics and it didn't disappoint. The last two days featured some challenging typhoon-generated swell that required skill, fitness and strategic jostling. Congrats to all athletes involved for superbly showcasing our sport to the world. This article by the ABC (Aus) gives a great summary of the experience.

A stark and tragic reminder of what happens when nature is the victim if things go wrong with oil, gas and plastics. A raging fire in a Thailand factory that processes polystyrene, a cargo ship caught fire and spilled into the ocean off the coast of Sri Lanka, and a ruptured gas pipe in the Gulf of Mexico - where the ocean was incredibly in a huge blaze for five hours. When will all this stop?

Founder of Wave Changer, Tom Wilson, recently talked with Ian from Animated Living podcast, and also Wendy from The Coast, in an episode that features Damien Cole from Surfrider and Varuna Surf.
