WAYS TO ENGAGE YOUR BOATERS IN CLEAN AND SAFE BOATING PRACTICES

The increasing amount of boaters hitting the water this summer is exciting, but may mean increased efforts to provide a clean and safe boating experience. We suggest engaging your boaters and having them help with your efforts! We are always here to help but to get started:
  • Train your staff to talk to boaters and remind them of best practices
  • Recognize boaters who are “champions” of clean and/or safe boating and encourage them to share that passion with their peers
  • Encourage your boaters to obtain clean and/or safe boating education

REMINDER: Are you in compliance with stormwater and wastewater regulations?

It is VERY important that you are keeping your pollution prevention plans and monitoring records UP-TO-DATE. If you have a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC), safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS), or monitoring requirements at your facility, please take time in the fall/winter to review these documents, ensure record-keeping is happening, and update them accordingly. Take time to do a site inspection and ensure items are stored and labeled properly. Review the fact sheets below for helpful tips.
