Wales DTP Student Teams Community News

The Teams community recently held its final networking event of the academic year.  Updates were provided from the DTP on matters including: the DTP buddy scheme; meeting the new cohort of DTP students at induction; evolving the Teams community, and future networking events.  If you were unable to attend the meeting, you can view the updates in our announcements video

Should you wish to share your thoughts and discuss the announcements made, you can do so anonymously via a dedicated Padlet.

The Teams community has proven a great success, helping us to communicate, network and form partnerships despite the ongoing pandemic. Thank you to everyone for your contributions and continued involvement!

Small Grants Scheme

Despite the current situation, there is still plenty of potential and support for the submission of applications for DTP small grant activities, and to plan collaborations that can be done virtually (webinars instead of conferences for example).  We welcome proposals for our next small grant applications call with a closing date of 1 November 2021.

Further information and an application form can be found on the DTP website

WISERD 2021 Summer Series Competition Winners

The DTP extends its congratulations to University of Wales Trinity St David PhD student Emma Reardon, winner of the poster pitching session in the 2021 WISERD Summer Series, held online this month.  Emma receives a prize of £200 book tokens, sponsored by the Wales DTP, for her talk 'I feel like a square peg in a round hole.  How is autism perceived and does it matter'.  Congratulations also to student Muhao Du, Cardiff University, winner of the best poster prize', for his research on 'Finding Harmony in Hardship: experiences of subsidiaries of Chinese MNCs in the high technology sector'.  Muhao receives £200 book tokens, sponsored by the Learned Society of Wales.

ESRC Student Survey

The ESRC recognise that the student voice is an important factor in monitoring its doctoral training investments.  Current postgraduate students are invited to complete a brief survey about their studentship experience.  Responses will be combined with those of others to help inform both the ESRC and Doctoral Training Partnerships about the experience of postgraduate researchers, helping to improve future support.  The survey is open until 6 August.
