The Wild Bird Feeding Institute has been tracking the news associated with the mysterious outbreak in several states in the U.S. that are causing birds to become sick and/or die. 

There is no definitive cause of death identified yet for the sickness and no evidence that this disease is contagious, or caused by anything related to bird feeding.  The WBFI recommends that consumers follow their local recommendations from wildlife officials and follow best practices, and we will be working directly with officials to share resources and information.

We will keep the WBFI network updated once we have more news on possible causes. You can read the letter from our WBFI Executive Director and view our resources on our #FeedSmart page on best practices for safe feeding.
