New webinar series, expanded trainings for clinicians, and more

Dear Fluence community,

With psychedelics poised to be the first new addition to the psychiatric toolkit in 40 years, those wanting to be therapists suddenly have a new, exciting career path: becoming a psychedelic therapist.

Our fall curriculum at Fluence is robust with a variety of trainings, from introductory courses like Psychedelic Integration: Premise & Promise and Understanding Ketamine, to more intensive courses such as Psychedelic Psychoanalysis and Psychedelic Psychopharmacology.

Last week, we announced our all-new 10-week webinar series, Access and Inclusion in Psychedelic Treatment. The webinar series will cover a range of topics, presenting challenges and future opportunities for addressing social injustice in the field of psychedelic medicine, focusing on the role of the clinician’s voice in context of the larger healthcare system.

In addition to webinars and workshops, Fluence also has opportunities for clinicians to participate in our 14-week Integration Essentials group, clinical consultation groups, an experiential retreat, and psychedelic research.

As an added bonus, many of our courses may be taken in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Fluence Postgraduate Certificates in Psychedelic Integration Therapy or Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

We are so excited for what the fall will bring, and hope you are too. Until then, stay connected with Fluence on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Until next time,

Webinar Series: Access and Inclusion in Psychedelic Treatment

10-week webinar series exploring access and inclusion in psychedelic treatment

As states and regulatory bodies consider making psychedelic-assisted therapy available, key social justice considerations come into focus, particularly around healthcare disparities and access to treatment, medicalization of plants that certain communities consider sacred, oppressive psychiatric treatments, and stigma experienced by people who use drugs.

This 10-session webinar series will cover a range of topics about both the present challenges and future opportunities for addressing social injustice in the field of psychedelic medicine, focusing on the role of the clinician’s voice in context of the larger healthcare system.

Serotonin Toxicity of Serotonergic Psychedelics: Study by Dr. Kelan Thomas

Fluence Lead Trainer Dr. Kelan Thomas recently co-authored a paper on the use of psychedelics in conjunction with psychotropics.

The published study focused on serotonin-related adverse reactions when using both psychedelics and serotonergic medications, and found that negative reactions exist on a spectrum, with serotonin syndrome being the most severe manifestation of serotonin toxicity.

Fluence x Osmind Psychedelic Integration Study

We’re now recruiting psychedelic integration therapists for our Psychedelic Integration Study with Osmind.

The primary aim of this study is to obtain basic information about therapists who provide psychedelic integration, to better understand clients who seek psychedelic integration from these therapists, and whether such patients report improvements in wellbeing and decreases in stigma associated with seeking care.

If you’re interested in participating in this study, we ask that you attend one of our study orientation webinar sessions, which will provide more information about the methods of the research.

Webinar Recording - Psilocybin Therapy and Mental Health Care in Oregon

As you may recall, earlier this year we hosted a webinar in conjunction with Portland Psychotherapy on the state of psilocybin therapy in Oregon.

In a panel-style discussion, presenters gave updates on the status of the Oregon psilocybin initiative, particularly as it related to the training of facilitators, and ways local therapists could receive appropriate training in the practice of psilocybin-assisted therapy.

If you were unable to attend the webinar, you can now view it on demand via YouTube.

The Psychedelic Renaissance Documentary

The Psychedelic Renaissance documentary is a beautiful film that explores all aspects of the psychedelic renaissance, from Indigenous use and the war on drugs, to clinical applications and the complexities of integrating these substances in a safe and effective way.

The purpose and intention of the film has always been to provide free and accessible education about psychedelic substances, plant medicine and harm reduction, while serving as a campaign platform for drug policy reform and social change.

To help complete the production of this film, Anya Oleksiuk has organized a GoFundMe page. If you would like to support the production of this film, please consider donating through the button below.
