Welcome to Tiger Tales #3.
AUGUST 2021

Hello Tiger Family!

Firstly we would like to wish all our teams and families the best of luck for the last 2 rounds of the home and away season.  This season has flown by and we have been lucky to have had only a few minimal disruptions due to Covid.

Team photos were completed last week for all teams including Auskick.  If your child was absent and you have not supplied a headshot photo to enquiries@kdjfc.com.au you have until this Saturday 14th August to do so.  Please ensure you supply your child names and team in the email.

Our Auskicker's have been working hard on their skills and game play over the last few months and were able to put all their hard work into practice at the KDJFC Gala night last Saturday night.   The Year 2’s will be attending another Gala event this weekend at UWA - Good Luck to all those attending.  Normal auskick for PP and Y1 this Saturday.  The Auskick windup will be held on Saturday 28th August.

All junior and youth teams have 2 weeks left of their normal season, with the exception of the youth teams who are looking like they may make finals this year.  Currently we have 4 teams in a position to play finals, 2 male and 2 female, which is a great result for the first year having female teams at Kalamunda.

Planning is underway for our first major fundraiser/social event - the KDJFC Quiz Night, funds raised will assist with the change room facilities upgrade to ensure they are suitable for both male and female use in the future.  Our committee and parent volunteers are working hard to get this event off the ground, so we'd love for you to get a table together and come down on the 18th September for a fun night.  More details can be found on our facebook page or flyers around the clubrooms.

Following on from that, any local businesses that would like to donate a prize or Silent Auction items would be greatly appreciated and can be left with any of our committee members.  We can supply a donation request letter on behalf of the club if required.

The Steven Armstrong Medal night for the Year 11/12s will be held on the 4th September at the Lesmurdie Club . All club awards will be presented during this event.

The wind up for both Junior and Youth Teams will be on Saturday 18th September, in the morning.  More details to follow shortly.

We have plenty of merchandise available in the Tigers Shop and keep an eye out for our raffles on game day, available from the canteen.

Enjoy the remainder of the season and we look forward to seeing you at the Quiz Night!

Team Update from Year 4 BLACK

Year 4 team Black have had a really positive season so far and we have enjoyed welcoming a bunch of new team mates and families to the Tiger family.

Our boys have certainly had some challenging games of late and it is great to see them stand up to the challenge with courage and pride. The kids fundamental skills are improving every week and it was so encouraging for the coaches to see the use of quick disposals, holding positions and smart ruck work each game. I’m sorry to tell you kids, the training drills seem to be working so it’s going to more of the same for the rest of season. The good news is the coaches will make it as fun as possible. 😊

We are really focussed on promoting a strong club culture for our boys and its awesome for the coaches and parents to see this developing with the both our year 4 teams. The club culture is definitely evident when the teams sing our club song so loud and proud after every game. Keep going Tigers!!

A few weeks back our Y9/10 female team played against Morley Bulldogs.  At the end of the game, Danielle, a player from our Kalamunda team was awarded the Spirit of the Game ball, handed out by senior players from Morley JFC each week.  Great work Danielle!!
Team Update - Year 3 Black
Year 3 Black
The Year 3s have made an impressive transition from Auskick to Mods. The team has learnt to tackle, pass and work as a team. They have enjoyed playing in a range of weather conditions and recently played their first night match under the big lights at home!

The team has worked hard to bond as mates both on and off the field. The coach often holds extra training sessions on Saturday afternoons so the kids can improve their skills and form friendships. Recently after our night game the players and parents all enjoyed a meal at The Vault restaurant in Kalamunda. It was a night of smiles and laughter from a group that has bonded.

This bond is evident on the playing field with players high fiving and encouraging each other after goals are kicked. The team was able to take part in a formal Welcome to Country at their recent match in Swan View where the team paid respect to the tradition owners of the land in recognition of NAIDOC Week.
The team is well supported by coaches and parents who are passionate and eager to help with any jobs. As the season comes to an end the team has worked hard to improve their skills and we look forward to the final few games of the season.
