Program Team

Jon May

Freshman Programs Manager

I am extremely excited to see Global Gateway in its fourth year with its largest group ever. I have been with Global Gateway since the first group returned from their study abroad experience, but I have been with Mason for 20 years. As it relates to some of our Global Gateway locations, I have worked at Mason Korea and I have family living in South Africa. My overall travel history includes visiting 27 countries and counting. I share the email account with our Program Administrator.

Alyssa Goff

Freshman Programs Administrator

I am so excited to get started with my third cohort of Global Gateway freshmen! I started working in GEO Fall 2019 and will be teaching the 'Mason Korea Group 1' this Fall. Reach out to me via email or the Global Gateway Instagram with any questions or concerns.

Gateway Instructors

Costa Rica

Meet Chris Hicks! He taught this course Fall 2019 before it was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. He recently went to Costa Rica to visit this past May and also lived there from 2014-2015 working with an intercultural institute in San Jose (as well as a couple years in Cusco, Peru). In addition to his Gateway responsibilities, he works with the Global Education Office on programs for upperclassman at partner universities around the world!

Ecuador

Meet Brittany Harris! This is Brittany’s first year teaching UNIV-108. In addition to teaching UNIV 108, Brittany coordinates faculty-led programs with Mason faculty as a Customized Program Administrator and leads her own program to Puerto Rico in the Summer. Brittany is excited to work with GG Ecuador students and support them through their first Mason study abroad experience!

Greece

Meet Martha Sadler! This is Martha’s third year teaching UNIV-108, but first time teaching the Greece section.  Martha spent a semester studying abroad in Europe in college. Additionally, she has studied governance at the graduate level and is looking forward to spending time getting to better know the country where many of our modern ideas about governance originated! In addition to working with the Global Gateway program, Martha also serves as an administrator for Exchange programs with Chris Hicks.

Ireland Group 1

Meet Achim Loch! This is Achim’s third year teaching UNIV-108, and second time teaching the Ireland section. Originally from Europe, Achim is looking forward to sharing his passion for Irish culture, language, music, and supporting students through their Gateway experience. Outside of Gateway, Achim manages marketing and outreach activities for the study abroad office.

Ireland Group 2

Meet Wayne Adams! This is Wayne’s first year teaching Global Gateway, but certainly is an expert in freshmen transition courses. Wayne taught AVT 101 New Major Colloquium, a School of Art transition course, for several years while advising art students. He will be teaching the Australia section this fall and is very excited to share the experience with Mason students. Outside of Gateway, you can find Wayne as the Director of Academic Administration in College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). I’m looking forward to spending the year with you!

Mason Korea Group 2

Meet Allie Wallace! This is Allie’s fourth year teaching UNIV-108, but first time teaching the Mason Korea section.
